Did you know thst there are some secret levels not in an episode?
If you want to access them do the folowing: •Make a copy of all the standard jj2 levels ( .jj2 ) but not episodes and keep the copies in the data folder. •For each file change the name to "my" + old_level_name ( Example: "myCastle1.j2l" instead of "Castle1.j2l" ) •Run jazz and open the home cooked levels episode you should see al the standard levels listed. •Look in the list. Some levels have strange names. For example "Return to bird land" & "SECRET LEVEL" Return to birdland is a labrat level that you play as a bird ( Chuck ) SECRET LEVEL is just a copy of one of the Diamondus levels? |

Matrix, we've already discovered all of them. They're just unfinished lvls of lazy Cliff

Hahaha. Yeah, I've seen 'em. The bird one is pretty cool. You don't need to make backups and everything... Just run JCS and open those 2 levels. Click "Save and Run" without modifying anything, or it WILL save those modifications.

Bill Gates doesn't work on windows anymore.
|
May 23, 2001, 04:49 AM | |
I still want to kill bill gates, its his fault windows is so messed up and now his followers from 'microsoft' dont care, because then they can make a new version of Windows every 2 years and make big bucks on it... Like Windows Me, which crashes virtually every time you run a program!
If only linux became number 1, that would be a great improvement, but nooooooooooo, everyone always builds stuff for windows.... Everyone who owns a Mac should be extremely happy, because that works every now and then.

Krysis, there is only one exit in labrat1. The labrat 3 tileset was used for one of the Treasure Hunt levels

Heh, after clicking the reply button i completely forgot what the topic was about.... O yes, secret levels. The secret "birdland" in jazz 2 is quite easy to complete, its like a training level...with hurt instead of warp back.
The gargoyles lair (medivo secret) is quite like the normal jj2 levels so i dont see what is so secret. The diamondus and tube electric secrets were never finished. sadly enough, since i want a jazz 2 lizard level! just like the one in jazz 1... ow well.

Yes, an annoying bug, isnt it? Instead of an "area warp secret"-event, use a bonus signpost (looks like a coin warp). Shoot the post and voilá: level finished and to the secret level.
Note: the bonus level signpost also uses the "secret level" field in the Level Proporties |

Heh, what about Gargoyles Lair

"Stop complaining, at least MAC actually works sometime, unlike Windows."
i dislike windows, diffiently, but i must have gotten a cursed MAC or something, it's an iMac and it's running on Mac OS 9.1 or something like that and to put this as nicely as possible.. it's ridicliously "fragile". for whatever reason it has to freeze up so freaking often.. i mean more often than windows. i despise windows and yet i'd rather spend a day using windows than 2 hours on the mac. the total amount of crashes/freeze-ups. windows makes in a day is most of the time LESS than the amount of crashes/freeze-ups the mac makes in just 2 hours. macs aren't as bad as people make them out to be, but the whole "MACS ARE PERFECT" and even the "MACS ARE CLOSE TO PERFECTION" thing are just totally ridiclious lies. jb! |
Jun 16, 2001, 05:39 PM | |
by the way, i'll be perfectly willingly to take back my rant about freeze-ups or wotever and the mac when i finally get Mac OS 10 and if it's a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT more stable. and i mean a LOT more stable.
please though don't make any promises to me "MAC OS 10 IS SOOO MUCH MORE STABLE, JEREMY.. I PROMISE YOU!!" not to be rude or anything, but i've heard all sorts of promises before i got a Mac about how "STABLE" and "PERFECT" it is.. and this was when Mac OS 8 was out. So like.. did it suddenly get crappy for Mac OS 9.1 or something? keep the peace or something. =) 'tis all good. jb! |

Interesting that the secret levels got the shaft like that .. . but of course judging by what they were like, the production team may have had trouble figuring out how to make them function as 'secret' (say, as mentioned earlier).
Of course Gargoyle's Lair is nice caus' Jeh made the level.. . but of course the levels aren't obscurely fun. The Jazz 1 secret levels had potential I suppose because of unique items like TNT, the fact that Jazz could collect unlimited ammo . .. and then those special features that could make it different such as the frequently found Bird morph level...and in the Technoir one, the Bounce Pads. ^_^ Of course in Jazz2 there is an ammo limit, and less obscurely entertaining items. In order to tactically release the game timewise they didn't have time to finish a load of special features, say all those JCS items. . .and features like the bird so they scrapped the secret levels, i imagine, cause they weren't all so useful. In the Jazz TSF (Diamond Edition fits the original idea better) .. . they could have completed all that mess, which may have been their plan. You'd think if someone got the source code this sort of thing (secret level bug) could get doctored up nicely, as with the bird...and so on. Good times. - Rocky Stuff is good. . . |
