Microsoft doesn't suport Microsoft!?
I have the Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad, the non-usb version, and it worked great on Win98. I then upgraded to WinXP, and my Gamepad no longer works, even with a full re-install of the software. I have searched Microsoft.com for an update so that I could use my Gamepad, and have found naught. If anyone knows of a patch that could get my Gamepad to work, please tell.
Yet another reason to hate Microsoft. /me slams head into desk* `N0

I have a non-USB Sidewinder gamepad and it works fine on Windows XP. XP includes drivers for it.
Did you do an upgrade or a clean install of XP? What may be happening (if you did an upgrade) is that it is keeping the old Win98 drivers instead of using the XP ones. Maybe try the Sidewinder software. http://www.microsoft.com/sidewinder/

I did a clean install of XP, and the exact error I got was:
Code:
A limitation exists with your computer's resources or configuration. Setup can't install Microsoft Sidewinder Game Device Software on your current operating system. Check your Microsoft Sidewinder Game Device Software product packaging for system requirements. So, now what? `N0 -=Edit=- I went into explorer and tried all the exe's on the CD, and none of them worked, either. -=EditEdit=- I downloaded SWGameEN.exe and it didn't work either.

Well you shouldn't need to specifically tell it to install the gamepad. My XP just detected it and installed it automatically (silently).
Are you connecting it to your MIDI\game port on the sound card? What sound card do you have? It's possible that the game port is irregular and needs a driver, or the IRQ settings are incorrect, or something else to do with that. Do you have any other non-USB game devices you might be able to try on the same game port?

When in doubt, it is best to blame Microsoft, Bush, or Canada. In that order.
