This morning i wanted to check out if the UT2004 was ready for downloading (demo) i wanted to try it out, checked a few mirrors until i finally found one whence you didnt have to sign up for anything. So, i go and download it, it downloads fine AFAIK

Then when i go to install it, i think it goes ok, but when i try and open the actual program it gives me this error:

The D3D8.DLL file is
linked to missing export
DDRAW.DLL:Ddentry12

the thing is i have downloaded the DLL files: D3D8.DLL and DDRAW.DLL and it still wont work. If there are any UT2K4 fans out there can you help me? I wanna try out this cool-looking game

put the DDLs in the system(32) directory and then run the commands

regsvr32.exe /i D3D8.DLL
regsvr32.exe /i DDRAW.DLL

Dunno if it will make any difference but it's possible the DDL's arnt registered (installed).

Have you tried downloading the latest DirectDraw from Microsoft's web site? Are you sure your graphics card supports graphics like UT2K4's? What is your system configuration?

Also, "register DDLs" made me laugh.

Reinstall DirectX. Get the latest version (9).

k the regsvr32.exe fixed it, thx crono5, also i think UT2K4 is not my type of gameplay. I like sticking to the JJ2 type games, anyways when i tried UT2K4 the vehicles were cool, but i kept dying when someone shot me XD neways, not bad of a game.

UT 2004 is wicked, we had a 5 player lan game at the weekend
Dont play it online if your like me you wornt stand a chance but lan games or just games against bots are wicked! carnt wait untill this game is out

Yea its really fun, The grapichs havn't improved but i like the vehicles.
About the online play, i was happy 2 see getting online demo servers up, and went 2 play Onslaugt, the new gamemode which i also like very much

Well here you can see how i did online, I had much lag trough, but still owned :P.

And yes the "register DDLs" was funny =P
