Board idea: Spell Check!

Hey, programmers of the JCF, I got an interesting idea, how about a buttom like this?

Yeah, that would be great, I would be happy to see a buttom that looks like this! It should be amazing, then wouldn't so many people do so many spelling errors, what do you think admins? And members? Do you agree with that there should be buttom like this? Not only check if a word is correct, have it Grammer Check, both would be great, so can you make that hack for me? What do you think? That would be great!

It's a good idea, but I would probably never use it.

IE sux. :<

Anyways, the problem is, spell check and grammar check are both quite hard to program. I guess we could take the spell/grammar check from Office somehow, but that probably won't be done.

Such a feature would be neat, yet probably not used that much. It'd just take up space and time. Sry.

I doubt it would do a lot, but it might be useful if you make a mistake like typing tmoorrow instead of tomorrow.

I've seen boards where it's not a button, but a checkbox that's on by default. When you click the post button, it's automatically spell checked. That was kind of cool.

I'd like it. It cut down on a lot of sensless posts where someone decides to fix all the grammar and spelling errors done by someone else.

I am not sure if the current version of vB support spellchecking but even if they do it would eat up a lot of processing time and power. Since we've used more than our share of this before this will not be implemented. If you need spell and grammar checking for your posts I recommend copying and pasting into Word.

Anyway, unless it pops up prompts asking you what you meant it could make some nasty errors, like 'correcting' names and replacing a misspelled word with the wrong word.

I'm with Bob on this. It takes a lot of resources to have built-in spell checking, and J2O is running low on resources as it is.

They can use the word processor of their choice. Ever heard of OpenOffice?
