Her neck looks a little long, although it can be hard to tell behind the scarf. I'm not really sure I understand what the background is supposed to be, either.

Heh, I wish. I used GIMP, simply putting colors over the slightly cleaned up pencil sketch.

Hmm... I'm not sure.. I pretty much started on my own...
I'm sorry.
I suppose the best way to start is to simply look at stuff others drew and copy it, then start doing more on your own as you feel ready..

Hmm... I guess you still have a bit to learn..
Tracing some pictures of the two would help you get a better idea of their actual shape.
How old are you, by the way? ( That's an important factor when judging art. ^^; )

And... yes. The art on that site really is amazing..
