Hyzenthlay

Hyzenthlay from Watership Down.

Drawn, scanned, dropped into a different scene. My first digital color job. I'm learning tons about Photoshop. It can do anything it seems. o.o

Background from Escape to Watership Down (TV).

Nice pic.

The pink fur looks a bit weird though. You should thin it out a bit and make it white. :P

It's a good start, but your shading needs a light source. By that I mean you should know what direction the light is coming from and place the shadows accordingly. Like (old example I made godknowshowlongago):

Yes, I was hoping no one would notice that...

I tried to get Photoshop to cast a shadow... but since the rabbit was on it's own layer Photoshop would not cast a shadow over the the background layer... I tried serveral different ways... and finally I just settled for what you see there... I also couldn't tell where the lightsource was in the background... it seemed to be coming from the upper left... but I wasn't sure...

eh, but I still like how it came out... despite the shadow and pink issues..

btw, when I was first looking at your "Lightrays.gif" I was wondering why you were showing me a picture of male genitalia... lol

Photoshop is a smart little program, but some things you've just got to do manually. Default shadow functions are great for buttons and logos, but if you want to realistically shade or draw a shadow for something complex like a character, you need to make a shading layer/darkening brush of some sort and draw the lighting related things yourself.
