Question Problem turning Jazz 1 on

I recently downloaded Jazz Jackrabbit 1 and I can't turn it on by clicking on the .pif file. I tried to open it in MS-DOS but I have no idea how to do that. I looked at the instructions, moved different files different places and still nothing happens. Here's what I do:

C:\WINDOWS>CD\

C:\>CD\JAZZ\
Invalid directory

C:\>JAZZ
Bad command or file name

I don't know what to do. Please help.

maybe your copy is bad, (downloading stuff like games is generally bad)
what windows are you using?
how are you doing this cmmands? dus promt? full dos mudus?what are your system specs? are you sure this is the right folder?

also:
Code:
cd jazz
not:
Code:
cd \jazz\
Code:
C:\>JAZZ
this tells it too, you missed the folder, else it would have said:
Code:
C:\JAZZ\>JAZZ
i think the last solution will probably solve your problem, but the others might be necesary. jj1 wont work on xp/pentium4 unless you have special software.

Are you sure C:\Jazz is the correct folder?

As Alex noted, you need to have a spaces between the "cd" and the directory to which you wish to change.

Code:
cd \jazz
jazz
Also, what operating system are you using and what kind of computer do you have? If you have Windows XP or a semi-fast computer (like 400MHz or higher, maybe), JJ1 will not work properly and you'll have to do some other things to get it to work.

no "/"! not "\" for that matter. only when you want to open multiple folders at once, say
Code:
cd games\jazz
Code:
cd /
makes the dos go back 1 folder.

dir - shows where you are
like you are in c:\windows\

you need to type cd.. first

EDIT: sorry i see you allready did that with "cd\"

why are you running the pif?
what operating system are you running on?
*you said something about MS-DOS but a lot of people confuse a command promt/console with dos.

dir shows folder details, adn all files with the parameter, ifg you put nothing as parameter, it will display all files. however if there aer more files than your screen can fit, you need hte /p command, so it is divided into pages.(so they wont scroll by at warp speed, lol)
