I am currently having this problem, and have been trying a lot of different ways to fix it, but nothing has worked so far. =/

My DSL Modem is a Speedstream 5200, running in Dynamic IP mode, which connects to a D-Link DI-524 Wireless router. I use Zone Alarm, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with JJ2 timing out, since turning it off doesn't change anything.

I'm wired to the DI-524, along with 2 other computers, and there is also a laptop that is sometimes connected via wireless. This computer is the only computer that I really need JJ2 on, although it would be cool if more would work simultaneously. On this computer I'm running XP.

Some of the problems that I run in to--
- When I try to set up port forwarding in the DSL interface (192.168.254.254), I select the port range to forward, but when I put in my IP address (192.168.0.102), it says "NAPT server IP address is not a valid host LAN address."
Googling around a bit, the advice given on portforwarding.com was to give my computer a static IP, and then try port forwarding again, but that didn't help at all.

- Another thing that I tried was to bridge the modem to the router, and then do port forwarding through the router, but port forwarding in the router is really confusing, and only has Firewall (link), Port Triggering (link), and Virtual Server (link), which probably is unrelated anyway. In bridged mode I have messed around with all those, but didn't get JJ2 to work either.

A weird thing is that I had JJ2 working one time, but then when I tried to get it to work on more than my computer at once, I messed up everything (including the internet for all the computers--which made my family happy ), and then afterwards I couldn't get mine to work at all. Another thing is that when bridged, putting DMZ to my IP didn't help, although one time JJ2 showed up that it was sending and receiving constantly, but still timed out after 30 seconds.

When I did have JJ2 working on this computer, I'm pretty sure I was in PPPoE. When I first installed the router, I set is as PPPoE because the description said that it was for most DSL users, but installing was a lot harder for some reason. When I used Dynamic IP Address (which my D-Link interface says is for most Cable users), everything seems to work fine.

So that's where I'm at right now. I don't know much at all about networking. I was messing around with NAT/NAPT stuff (relating to the error messaging in port forwarding), but yeah, nothing really has worked.

And that's about it.

Thanks in advance.

1) Disable ZoneAlarm

Bah...that didn't help at all either. Even after bridging the modem (and I'm keeping it bridged now), DMZ is doing nothing. =/

Any other ideas?

I've heard of an instance like yours twice for my friends on XP, one using a laptop, both using wireless. If you can get it solved, I really have to note everything down to get those two online.
