Spriters and artists wanted for game

I'm making a game. It's kind of a hybrid between a point-and-click adventure and an RPG, viewed from the top-down. The engine's coming along fairly well. The only thing we (that is, me and several others working on this) need are people to do the graphics, because we can't do them.

We need character sprites, tileable background stuff (for buildings and the like) and just drawings of the characters for promotion. I've got the concept for the character designs in my head and stuff, I just can't get it down on paper.

If you're halfway decent at any of this, you're probably in.

The most recent sprite I did was last year, so it's not that good D: . - And I realise she's on the short side!

You'll find my drawings in the Art Battle thread here -> http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=16277

NovaStar: O_O; Did you... do that from scratch? That's awesome.
On the other hand, your art battle entries were a bit confusing. So I guess you can do the sprites... if you want I can give you some stuff to work on after I get back from school.

Erik: I've never actually seen any of your work, nor could I find any here on the JCF. =P
So I'm probably still going to give you stuff to do after I get back from school.

That sprite is really good. Is it from scratch? And do you have any other examples of your spritework?

I don't want to hijack this thread (feel free to tell me to get lost if it infuriates you), but I am also in need of a spriter. I don't need much done (just one character), but I need it....relatively soon. Any takers?

I wholeheartedly agree with Rad and Thunder. If that's completely self-made, that's quite awesome especially considering your age...

I'm pretty sure I'd be down to do promotional artwork... I'm too impatient for sprites.
Here's a dump of some stuff. It's not my best, but it's up:

Hmm. I guess this one is the only one that kind of fits the style we were going for.

When you say "Top-down" I think of the game title "Take No Prisoners"

the view wasn't that great (And awkward to use at times) but you get used to it. I would have loved a zoom feature...

anyway! I'm not sure if you could turn to me about help. MSPaint "Simple pixel" art is all i'm good at (the art I posted on here is about as good as it gets... )

Actually, I meant something more like this:

Except with modern 2D graphic standards.

Wait, you want the promotional art to be anime style?

Yeah, well, the in-game sprites so far are anime-styled, so I guess there should be consistency, no?

The question is if you are going to pay the artist for the works because the art you used as example is paid work and took a long time to do. Of course if anyone is willing to do it freely for the honor of being in the game then that's their shoe but you can see how far such 'requests' usually goes.

I don't know yet. It depends on whether we think it's good enough to sell once more has been completed.

"We will decide whether you are going to be paid after you did your work" is not a very good way of getting people to work for you

Except when you're lucky and find volunteers, of course.

Yeah, I suppose it isn't. But bear with us here, we haven't sold any games yet so we kind of lack funding (besides, if I could pay people I wouldn't have had to ask- I know plenty of people that do commissions :P)
