Hmmm that old DLink of Death issue. I couldn't get it working on my friend's either same 30 second CTO error on his Dlink. For some reason jj2 and dlink do not go together hand in hand and I wish I knew why. Sorry man.

no CTO? hmmm...idk...

Your computer is setup with a static ip address and ports are forwarded to that address right?

Also use port triggering as well it helped me at one point.

Are you sure you want Port Map to be set to 10056? That field may be there to allow you to remap ports (e.g. map port 80 externally to port 123 internally).

Port triggering shouldn't be necessary unless you have CTO issues. I'm not sure what port mapping is but by what Torkell's saying I would leave it blank if I were you.

Also your port start should be 10052 not 10053.

I have a router and no I have not forwarded the ports, (don't really want to), but I could host games with a router before hand and now when I try to I have 0 recv and 0 send, and my server is always pinging. Any other way to fix this without forwarding the ports?

Yeah, plugging your computer straight into the wall without a router, that way you wont be protected at all. Trust me, forwarding the ports is the way to go.

Say, does anybody actually know why JJ2 won't work with some routers? I've tried port forwarding with my router, an Alcatel speedtouch (>O), to no avail. Is it that those routers won't grasp ports above the 10000 range?

I think this has been brought this up in some other thread before, but it has to do with the router not forwarding the packets back to your ephemeral port (which you open when connecting to the server). Since this port is "random", you are unable to know beforehand what port you will be using, and thus would be unable to forward it. Most of the modern routers should be able to forward such packets automatically though. For those that cannot, I believe BlurredD had come up with a fix which fixes a fixed port number onto your Jazz2.exe.

Might as well make use of this topic...

I got NAT (Read: ICS) and portforwarding using ICS doesn't work with JJ2 either, although Nimrod said on MSN once that he had a solution. He just never told me what that solution is :/ I'm sure I'm portforwarding correctly, as I got uTorrent running on two PC's at once without any problem.

@Cooba: is it normal that you are portforwarding external ports 10052-10054 all to internal port 10054? It looks just completely wrong to me ;p But might as well try that too just to see if ICS likes that.

Do you have more than one router? Because I have 2 plus my internet gateway acts as a firewall. So it was a (-) to get JJ2 working. I had to first unplug both routers and access the gateway and forward/trigger the ports to my static (Yes it should be a STATIC IP ADDRESS if not SET IT UP)! Then I had to plug in the linksys and setup port triggering/port forwarding to my static ip address. Then I had to plug in my wireless and do the same. And then it STILL DIDN'T WORK! So I updated my 2nd router's firmware and it worked perfectly. If you're not chained to another router, just update the firmware it won't do any harm, besides, since you just recently got it, you can return it if it breaks which it wont.

If all the above fails, you can hack into some innocent kid's computer and host your server from there and join it at your computer.

Problably not your problem, but my router(s) would throw a fit when I had DMZ'd a computer on the network but was still forwarding ports. It really shouldn't affect anything if DMZ's on, but it helped me.

Disable DMZ. And checkmark reserve. I'm not sure what "reserve" exactly means, but i think it's like an enable checkbox. Also blur's program might help you if you haven't already tried it. I've never been able to get jazz to work on a dlink router but then again i never put all that work into trying to get it to run, either.

try using 1.23+

For some weird reason i've never been able to host my original Jazz2 exe file but when I host with 1.23+ i'm able to actually host.

I think this has something to do with the way winsocket works or some crap like that, IDK.

Dude I really have no idea as to why it's not letting you host.

DLink sucks i could never get it to work and i don't know how you got it to work before but all i can say is join the Hamachi network or something.

Or just ask me to host for you when i'm online i'll host whatever you ask.

As SonyK said, delete the port forwards and just enable DMZ. Then try.
