Battle Duel Tourney (or DITbtl) ..
Yeah, well, since I want to wait a bit longer with the new 2vs2-tourney (with back-ups, yes) and since the DITv2 is almost finished, here's an interim-tourney! It's a dueltourney which has a binding mappool with 12 levels. Read the rules carefully before signing up!
Don't sign up anymore! ![]() SIGN-UPS (red players indicate tourney-officials): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For those who care: Vegito isn't in :P .. Also, the two best number 3's advance. And finally, ehhh.. what was it again.. oh, right, the schedule will be announced when I got all veto's.

RULES
Signing Up - There are different ways to sign up for this tournament: posting in this thread, sending a PM or starting a MSN conversation. Information needed: Player’s name, country. - Each sign up can be rejected, without any reason given. Rules for the Business Before the Matches - Players can see the opponents they have to face on the schedule. The players themselves are responsible for contacting the opponents and planning the matches. - It should be a time when both players are ready for the match and when they have enough free time available (each match consists out of two or three rounds (although the different rounds can be played at different times, if both players agree). - The match should be played before the deadline of a round. - Matches should be played with a neutral host, but one of the players could eventually host if both players agree. Be sure to find a host with a stable connection, a good know-how of the tournament, who is absolutely unbiased towards both players. Picking a Level (Read this! It's important!) - Each level must be a level from the DITbtl Mappool. Arguing about the Mappool in this thread isn’t appreciated. - You cannot pick the same level twice in a row (as your own choice - 3rd neutral round level don't count). So you can't pick, for instance, Battle 1 twice in a row! - You cannot pick the same level more than 3 times in the whole tournament. This is to avoid certain levels to be picked over and over again by the same players. - The two rules above this one don't count for the Finals Bracket - Since the mappool is binding, you cannot choose a level which is not in the DITbtl Mappool. In-game Rules - Once players have entered the server they get a while, like 5 minutes, to collect ammo for the match and to get used to the level. - Players are not allowed to use any cheat tools, or other kinds of software which gives them a slight advantage over the opponent. ANY player caught cheating (of course, if this is supported with clear evidence from both the host and the opponent – screenshots are preferred) the player ill be DIRECTLY DISQUALIFIED from playing in this tournament, and in any related tournament for the next year. Arguing about a ban is not allowed. - Inappropriate language, use of racist/fascist terms and other vulgar words are strictly prohibited (it doesn’t matter if one player says the S-word or F-word a few times, but not too much). - Complaining about lag is allowed as long a it is well supported and appropriate (terms as “(-)ING LAG (-)(-)(-)” aren’t appropriate). - TNT ammo shouldn’t do any damage, but if both players agree it can do one damage. - You can't leave during the game. After both players agreed on a host you cannot leave the server because of lag, unless your opponent agrees on finding another host. Just leaving the server because of lag will mean the other player will automatically win the round. Scoring - Each duel consists out of two or three games (the first player to win two games is the winner). - Both players pick one level from the DITbtl Mappool. Games are till 5 points. If the score is tied after two games (1-1 in games) a deciding round should be played (so 5-0 4-5 isn't a 9-5 win for one of the players: the score is round-based). You can agree on a neutral third level with your opponent, but if you for some reason can't agree on anything the Supervisor or an Official will pick a level from the DITbtl Mappool, which you cannot argue about. - If a match takes too long for any reason, both players might agree on enabling Damage Amplifier or No Carrots, to speed up the duel. This can only be done if both players agree. After a Duel - If the match has been played, it should be verified at the tournament’s Supervisor. This can be done through e-mail or MSN. As soon as possible after the verification, the duel will be added in the tourney’s database. - Brackets will be updated as soon as possible. - Verification needs the following data: Player 1, Player 2, the host, the maps and round scores. Problems that might occur, and their solutions - It could always happen that a person is not online at MSN for a long while or doesn’t respond to any emails sent to them. In that case, the other player should contact an Official. An e-mail will be sent to the non-replying person. If this person doesn’t reply within 48 hours, he or she loses the duel. In case a person’s computer is broken (which could happen), he or she needs to send an email as soon as possible to his/her opponent and an Official, or post a reply in this thread. In that way we can still try to arrange the match before the tournament moves on. If there isn’t any solution, the player will have to leave the tournament after all. - Players cannot play on certain times because they are away, and while they are home, his/her opponent is gone. If there’s no way a good time can be found, contact an Official and he will try to arrange a decent time. If still no arrangement can be found, the Official will investigate which player has the most available free time spots. The player with the most free time will receive a forfeit win. - If a map agreement cannot be reached (for a deciding 3rd round), an Official has to be contacted. The Official will pick a random level from the mappool. - In case a good host cannot be found, an Official needs to be contacted – the Official will try to find a good neutral host, which the players have to accept. - If it occurs that a player doesn’t want to play a match, the Official will come into play and will ask the refusing player in a 3-person MSN Convo if he/she really doesn’t want to play and why, and if he really refuses, he/she will lose the match. If both players refuse to face each other because of problems, the Official will do a coin flip. - A player has left the tournament for any reason. In this case, the other player will receive a forfeit win automatically. However, if this occurs while the leaving player hasn't played any game yet, he/she may be replaced by some other player, who didn’t came through the signup phase. - MSN is down so players cannot contact each other. In the rare cases that this occurs, you can just wait for MSN to be back up soon, and arrange the match then. To prevent being pushed into the deadline because of these problems, try to arrange the match as soon as possible. Also, other methods can be used, such as a thread on the Jazz Community Forums, an IRC Convo, ICQ, e-mail, phone calls, SMS, a letter, or smoke signals.

Hmm, sign ups aren't going really fast, which means I'm also considering a groupstage with 24 players -> 8 groups of 3 with the top 2 advancing to the K.O.-stage.

I wasn't talking about the feedback, but about the "isn't very well thought through"-line. Also, I didn't actually say he's an idiot, since I know that he knows I put time/effort in this. Admin or not, you should read stuff more carefully before editing.
[This is another instance of the behaviour I warned about. I gave you a friendly suggestion. Yes, it applied to your post. Additionally, I have not said you called anyone an idiot. This is the reason I edited your post for a flame tag (=just incendiary) instead of a personal attack (an actual direct insult). In the future, please do not remove edit notices. - FQuist] Well, he deleted his post, so I deleted mine. Nothing's wrong with that, right? And since when do admins edit posts to 'give friendly suggestions'? You can keep on moderating then forever. Anyway, point taken, sorry.

Adding a new rule:
- Each player can, before the tourney starts (so he/she won't know the draw yet), veto one level for the whole tournament. This means opponents cannot pick this level against this player. All veto-levels will be listed behind the signed-up players.. So, if people don't understand this, here's an example: DarkSonic really loves Hectic Housewars. Now he has to play me. My 'veto-level', which I decided on before the tournament, is Hectic Housewars. He now wants to pick Hectic Housewars, but he can't, since it's my 'veto-level' and now he'll have to pick one of the other 11 levels.

Deadline for the veto-levels is tomorrow at 20:00, GMT+1. I'll try to decide for the people who didn't vote for any veto-level then, yet, but anyway, expect the schedule around 20:30 tomorrow.

Supposedly you don't have to veto a level if you want to look cool or something.

Well, snzspeed indeed!
Quickz vs. Ktos 5-3 "EvilMike's Evil Fortress" (his choice) 5-3 "The Highlands" (my choice) Ktos hosted both rounds. Quite intense games though, especially the second one, where I controlled the level well at the beginning, not giving him a chance to get the Seek PU, but he had a nice comeback. I fortunately still won. Also, I included a wrong version of "Sandstone Ruins" in the levelpack, without a respawning bouncy PU. I fixed it and I updated the download in the first post. Sorry ;[ .. Be sure to host the right version!
