Movement: oklö, sometimes ijkl
Jump: w
Fire: f
Run: autorun (shift), r during tests
Select: enter (i never use it)

I changed it a couple of years ago to be closer to the arrow keys and to strain my hands less.

I'm right-handed!

Right handed as well! I've never enjoyed the default ctrl-shift-space control scheme because it always felt too stretched and far from each other, changing a couple things around worked quite well.

Default, to the point that I change other games' control schemes to be more similar to the default JJ2 keys.

For me, I used to be like Violet, but a little while ago, I began experimenting and now I use an Xbox 360 controller with the following mappings:
Movement: Analogue Stick;
Jump: A;
Fire: RB or B;
Run: X;
Select: LB or Y.
This allows me to switch weapons(Left index finger), run(Right thumb), shoot(Right index), jump(Right thumb), and move(Left thumb) all at the same time without moving my fingers from their usual position.

If I'm on the keyboard, I either use default controls, or I choose whatever keyboard mappings I feel like using at the time(If I do this, I usually end up using the arrows, Shift, Z, X, and C). Although, if I have the option, I choose a controller.

Mine's similar, although I primarily use Left-Alt to fire and use the mouse right-handed.

I use the same scheme. Been using it since around 2001 .
Shift: Run
Z: Fire
X: Jump
C: Switch

Nice! *High five*

One alternative control scheme I thought of used Q, W, E, and R(Or, perhaps E, R, T, and Y), which would place your fingers much closer to the numbers, allowing you to switch weapons much easier. Of course, you'd have to remap the other keyboard layouts to get a couple of those keys(Such as W on Keyboard 2).

Movement: Arrows
Jump: Ctrl
Fire: Space
Run: Shift
Select: Enter (I use it when I need TNT or electroblaster. I press 6, since I can reach only that number on this keyboard, and press enter after that)

I am right-handed.

This scheme is the default one, but I like grytolle's okl; binds for moving. Gonna try that.

Interesting. It sounds like it would never work and wouldn't make sense, but it's actually quite comfortable.
Kind of reminds me of one I came up with a couple of years ago: A, E, R, G, Space. Designed for maximum comfort. I've never actually tested it, or even figured out what I'd map to what, but you get the idea.

Hey Lark!

My control scheme depends on what style keyboard I use.

For now I have default on a laptop keyboard. With mouse aim:

Left mouse button - shoot
Right mouse button - jump
W/A/S/D keys - movement

With an ergonomic/contoured keyboard, I use W/A/S/D for movement, backspace to jump I think and still space to shoot.

With a standard/ergonomic/other keyboard, I use default controls.

Oh, some other times I have used...
Space - jump
X - fire
R - fire
Alt - fire (in JJ1)

How about y'all? =)

Arrow keys: Up, Down, Left and Right; F or D: Fire; W: Select; E: Jump; A: Run (I actually had to open JJ2 for this because I honestly didn't remember..)

Run: Shift, Caps Lock on
Select: Enter
Shoot: Caps Lock, later changed to 'A' since I used Caps for running.

Playing with these controls since I was kid.

I've always used the default keys for the keyboard.

With Mouse Aiming on I use:
Movement: WASD
Fire: Right Mouse
Jump: Left Mouse
Run: Shift

Right now, a Playstation Dual Shock-style USB gamepad (with per-button turbo which is nice)

Movement: left-hand D-pad
Jump: right-hand "D-pad" down (button 3, or some random symbol on a real PS controller)
Run: either left-hand shoulder button
Select: right-hand top shoulder button
Shoot: right-hand bottom shoulder button

I used to use a N64-style controller but that needs a real joystick port which doesn't exist these days.

I tried to change them to DWAS and LIJK for arrows and commands, but when I use copter ears and shoot I type in "JJK" and you know what happens next.

Try WASD and UIOP, or use 123 and ENTER on the Numpad(Instead of UIOP). Or, use the arrows and AWEF.

Jazz2 is pretty much the only platformer I play with the keyboard. I even use the default settings: Arrows, space, alt, shift... Even when I pull out my gamepad for every game that isn't a MOBA, I just got too used to playing Jazz2 this way over the years. I think my hands have mutated to adapt to the distances between the keys

That's kind of clever! I can't say the same for the image size, but shunting Up and Down off like that makes a lot of sense.
