Idea for a breathtaking JDC event :-)
Here is my idea for a cool JDC event for this season:
the big +++Europe vs. North America Showdown+++. Which will ultimately show which side of the Atlantic has the best players this season. Where in the Europe team players from the following countries are allowed: Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Austria, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Greece, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Yugoslavia, Macedonia, Albania, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova. In the North America team players from the USA and Canada are allowed. Two Battle (roasts: 25) and two CTF (score: 25) matches, i'd say. We could have different teams (five players each team i think) for each of the two matches. Hmmm...and it should have a good organization (good date, good time). Both continents should give their best players. I am willing to play in the Europe squad, btw. Anyone nominates me? :-) |

This is one of those ideas that have often been mentioned, but never actually took place. Still, i wouldn't mind giving this one another try. Anyone else?

First of all, bad luck this time, defalcon, sorry :-)
About making up the teams: my idea is asking the people best ranked on JDC first. Like, if we have the following ranking at the end of this round/season: 1. Player 1 (is from Europe) 2. Player 2 (is from North America) 3. Player 3 (is from Europe) 4. Player 4 (is from North America) 5. Player 5 (is from North America) We would first ask Player 1 for the Euro team, if he doesn't want to participate, we ask Player 3 for that team and so on. Same with the other team. Bobby says, we wouldn't get the best players together that way. I say: so what? As a concession to Bobby i have the following idea: nine of the players will be chosen like described above but *one extra player* will be chosen by a poll, where every JDC member has one vote. |

I don't like it...
It gives the Euro's and USA's and Canadians (You left out Mexico! It IS part of NA!) and unfair advantage in the points. And the better people will be even more ahead, giving the worse players even worse rankings.

Other things to consider are what levels to play on and how many flags to capture...

Actually KRSplat if it was an event, it would not hurt anyone's scores, it would only add because event points are pure points added to the score.
Thinking a little more about this, I do not disagree with it, but I'm not sure that taking people straight from the ranking list is the best way. America would win so bad anyways |

Yeah So? Worlds best players all together kicking eachothers butt!!! That would be a big ShowDown. Just lets give it a try. If the points of one of the two teams are sooo bad we just wont do it for JDC.

As long as it's not for JDC, it's okay. But if only some people could participate in it and it was for JDC, it would be completely unfair -- in normal events, are only a few people ALLOWED to participate? No. Everyone is (unless they break a rule, but that's different.) Even if only a few show up, it was their choice not to come, not some other person's.

Suggestions...
I'd like to play for the European team
![]() The BIG problem will be lag, I guess. If there are 10 ppl at all, we need somebody with a T3 connection, DSL won't be enough then. And I also don' think we should choose the players just by ranking. Of course, you could take the best-ranked players, but there at least should be a additional poll, also because there are people that rule in duels but aren't that good in publics (and such an event will be some kind of a public server), and in the other way. Additional, there are CTF freaks (like Flea ![]() ![]() My idea for electing the people: Take the 20 best-rated (at JDC) players. Not because they definitely are the best, but because they are the most active ones, and probably will be able to appear at trainings and stuff. This 20 players will get 2 votes for each one and choose two others who they think are good. The ten with most votes will be the team, they can trainn together and stuff and decide after a few rounds of training who'll play. And I guess such a "poll" could be well for the battle and the CTF team, so TWO polls. Well, hope you like my ideas ;P!

A host that won't play and minimizes the game so he doesn't appear.

For lag just host half the game on one server and the other half on another. Or get somebody in asia to do it. :)
As far as choosing players goes, if we wanted to draw this out we could have a tournament to see who gets to play in the final game. Or what about 'captains'? They could be responsible for testing all potential players. Or each side holds a big skirmish and the players vote. stripe |

Yay Asian servers
![]() Well, a captain is a nice idea. But he should be elected.

Hmm. Hard to get serious elections. Another problem is who should elect...you can't get all TSFers to choose who they prefer as captain: at first, they don't even know much good players, and they also only play randomly and almost don't speak English...
