Character art for a game I'm trying to get into production. This only shows one mood (I was drawing it a lot to get it down right). The pictures where her chest fur is shaped heart-like are my latest ones.

Oh! And I suppose you'd want to know what weapon she uses. She kind of has ghost claws... I suppose I could make them kinda flamey, and don't tell me I'm copying kim possible It has been done before that.

Did you use any perticular type of construction for the head? Whenever I try to draw heads, they look somewhat... mutated.

Like said in Noogy's, some varied expressions would be good. And in one picture, the ears are huge compared to her ears in the next picture.

With the tails, it's consistent except for one picture where there is clearly four tails, not five. Another one you have to look closely at (there is a tail hidden, but tails don't fold like paper does, so I didn't bother trying that one. Five tails)...

Pretty good otherwise. Just the expression, she always looks the same to me...

Bah, how come Noogy's forum gets info on the game and we didn't? I would post more at Noogy's, but posting on one forum is enough for me =P.

Because Hare gets comments that help him improve his artwork on Noogy's forum, like everyone else there.

But people here don't criticise. It's always "AWESOME!!! I LUF Y00!" Or something like that. I have to beg for constructive criticism here, and I still don't get much.

Here, friendly criticisim is called flaming, and you get banned for it.

Yes, but some people *cough*icedkiller*cough* don't understand this, with levels or art. Most people here would find critisizim insulting. That's one reason I like noogy's forum too, but this one is more fun =P. The standards here are also a lot lower, so if you draw some piece of krap, people say "I w0r5hip j00!". Yes, very misleading and usless, but it's funny. And a bunch of simple people bowing to you is hard to resist.

If you're an artist, and can't handle criticism, you aren't an artist.

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISISM IS GOOD!!! I mean, without constructive critisism, we would never improve... Well, maybe some of us would, but nowhere near all of us.
However, BAD HURTFUL critisism should be avoided at all costs.

Reguardless, remember that YOU are your own best critic.

Perhaps, but you need to leave your art for a while and then come back to it, but you will still never find every little error in your own art. So you go ask other people.

The reason you have to leave your art for a while is because when you've been looking at it too much, it looks "correct". You don't notice all the errors. You'll notice more when you come back to it.

Moonblaze: If you are referring to the post I made in that topic... Yes, that was a mistake. But I was simply trying to suggest that Phoenix varies the type and style of her work, not just the medium. It seems that everybody does gothic artwork, and then they say they're "different"... Yes, I do gothic artwork sometimes, but "everything in moderation."

No, I was reffering to Fawriel's post. I was leading to you can't give much critic and advice here on JCF without having someone stuck on you with a "you sux".

Ah, well, yeah. I get a lot of the "You sux" crap then, I guess.

Well, just because you think it's good doesn't mean there isn't something that can be corrected.

I still stand by what I say about variety... Being gothic tends to be an obsession for people.

Hey, wow, I got a lot of replys here. Let me explain some things.

1. The tails: There are five tails, sometimes I didn't know how to put them all in there without it looking cluttered. I want them to look flowing, but I don't want her to look she has a big bush growing out of her... *cough* rymes with 'ear' *cough* :P I just realized something this morning, and that is that I need to add more dimension to her tails. They can't all point in that same 2D direction (there just isn't enough room for them all to fit, while pointing in the same direction), so I'm going to make them kind of fan out... I believe this will help with the tail design problem. The reason I didn't add all five tails sometimes is because I figured that a tail can be hidden by the other tails.

2. The Purrhead Tileset: .... Oh my gosh, you guys remember that? I guess it is kind of hard to miss a whole new character running past you in a battle mode. Then there was the elevators, too. I had so much fun laughing at people's reactions with those animations . Purrhead tileset... hmm.... I don't have any of it left. Even if I did, I wouldn't finish it... I would start it over from scratch . Tell me what you liked about my Purrhead tileset, maybe that could help me out.

3. The game: I'm not finished with the concept document yet. I have a feeling I should mainly stay under wraps until I have a more firm foundation to work on. Once the concept document is done, I suppose I could share what it is about.... I know, I told the noogy forum, but that is a different audience.

4. Criticism: I like good criticism, it helps me grow.

Just remember, Nemesis: You mean well, and if they can't see that your trying to help, well phooey on them.

As for my comment on you being your own best critic, I guess it's largly because I receved a LOT of unconstructive/stupid critisism when I was starting drawing from my peers.

I usually get good feedback from the Noogy forum. Yes, I mean criticism. Criticism, when done right, is good feedback. The Jay Sherman approach, "It stinks!" is not good criticism, and so being, is not good feedback.

Criticisim could also be "It stinks because..."

"It stinks because..." tends to be 'MEAN'.

We all just hate eachother at Noogy's Forum, that's why we criticize everything.
