In search, there is an option to include child forums under the box used to select what forums you are searching. What are these child forums?

Those are the forums you leave your children in when entering some dangerous place like the Misc forum. They have a nice playpen and toys in them, along with a kind old caretaker who gives the kids cookies.

They are subforums. The new VB supports the option to have forums within forums. "Child forums" is simply a more elegant way of saying that. The option is useless on the JCF, though; there are no child forums.
