Video card + JJ2 = )<

My new video card seems to have odd effects on JJ2. When I start the game, my screen is smashed into a square on the right side of the monitor during the change to 640x480. Not only that, but the game runs slower in general. I don't mean "jumpy" or "laggy" slow, I mean only my character is moving in slow-motion. I fall slower, run slower, jump slower, and so on.

Anyone know if this is a software/driver problem that can be fixed?

Theory 1: The smashing into the side of the screen sounds like an issue with direct draw. Were you prompted to update Direct X upon installation? If so, try an older or newer version of Direct X.

Theory 2: Ask link.

Theory one didn't help. Theory two sounds nice, though...

Hey, that's the EXACT same GFX card i've got (and i'm proud to say, i'm upgrading soon )

Anyway, it works fine for me...one thing though, don't use ASUS's drivers...they suck...use nVidia's off of http://www.nvidia.com

Would it be possible to put in the old video card and make sure it is a card-specific problem?

Does the square with JJ2 look distorted at all, or is it just smaller?

Does windowed mode work properly?

Are there any ill effects in other programs?

Eh, I'd rather have that as a last resort. I'm too lazy to do that unless I have to =P.

Hmm. It seems that the game only slows in full screen mode, connecting the two problems. It's like it's either a problem with running full screen or changing the resolution. And the screen is not badly distorted, just resized and a bit squished (can be fixed with controls on the monitor). It changes differently on different resolutions, and changes back when it returns to 1024x768.

And the resizing affects anything that changes the resolution, but the slowing doesn't.

Since i cant find the quote button on the JCF ill do this:

My new video card seems to have odd effects on JJ2. When I start the game, my screen is smashed into a square on the right side of the monitor during the change to 640x480. Not only that, but the game runs slower in general. I don't mean "jumpy" or "laggy" slow, I mean only my character is moving in slow-motion. I fall slower, run slower, jump slower, and so on.

In the past 2-3 days i have been having the exact same problem when hosting my hotel (using the True Rabbit Hotel tileset) it has minimum animations, and is the default 256 x 64 size. Nothing unusual.

However after about 3-5 minutes of gameplay i start to experience my character moving in slo mo, i also fall slower jump slower and i can barely move, or talk.

The troubled part is that, i dont have a new video card. Only after i nearly blew up my computer: (see topic 1 or 2 down.)

I dont have any new hardware/software installed to affect this. Any ideas?

It's now built into the "reply" button on the bottom of the individual messages. (finally a question I can answer!)
