Blah. Blahblahblahblahblargh.

My art was insulted. Horribly.
I was too busy yesterday with being nervous about asking the girl of my heart the big question to care...
But this morning, I heard the insults in my head again.

You want to know why I hate criticism?
Simple.
It stresses me OUT! EVERYTHING is stressing me out!
"Faw, draw this, draw that, and don't forget thatother picture!" "Faw, you have't improved, drawing something, the heck!" "Faw, you should REALLY draw something now!"

This is the reason why I can hardly pick up a pencil.
Why I can never finish a picture if I'm not in the perfect mood for it - they don't turn out good enough and end up unfinished.

This stress became too much to bear this morning.
My head began to feel like it'd explode. It made me weep. Tears slowly started building in my eyes.
I could hardly get air. My lungs were going like a machine gun.

Is this what art is supposed to do?
Hardly.

So... I have made my decision.

NO ONE SHALL EVER AGAIN INSULT MY ART!

THERE! CRITIC ME! HIT ME WITH ALL YOU'VE GOT! I'll show you, Rad....

Ok, I'm not really much of a critisizer(As far as I'm conserned: art should be fun, and if you enjoy it than thats all that matters... Hey, that's just the way I think, and the reason I doodle so fequantly.)
The eyes could be a tad eviler. Ex: I've always liked evil characters with blank eyes(As in no puples(sp?).)

(Yeah, it's lame but like I said, I'm not too much of a critisizer. Someone else might come up with something better and more helpful.)

When you're not supposed to critique, you critique.
When I ask for criticism, I get "counseling". While I'm sure it's written "counceling".

No, it's "counseling". And I have Mr. Paperclip on my side. Your first post was difficult to determine weather you wanted criticism or not.

Anyway, his eyes are a bit too high and his ears seem a tad misplaced. His pupils are a bit offset from his irises... pupils are hard to get right, don't join the dark side like me and start ignoring them. And something about his nose seems wrong, it's either too small or mispositioned, not sure.

(Un)happy now?

but i agree with radium, the pupils are a bit off, and it is hard to get them down (i have done what raduim did and given up on them, in fact, i don't even draw them anymore.)

if i had a scanner i could show you my stuff but i don't. plus, people say my drawing is very FLCL-ish, that or evil/cartoony (cartoony skulls and such)

Position or size?
If it's size, no. They're supposed to be that small. Because he's evil. Yeah. Xb

Position. The left eye is looking right, and the right eye is looking directly ahead. Gives it a slightly crosseyed look. I think if you just move the right pupil slightly to the right a bit, it'll be better. Of course, I could be all mixed up and confused, too.

Nice, the pupils are very small. It gives a very menacing look from my experience.

Ya know, I knew the criticism was a bit much with that last image. I know how it is to bee too concerned with doing things "right" and not enjoying the experience like I should. I broke down too, and it wasn't good. When you start thinking your worth comes from how well you do, it can only lead to depression because our worth never was about how well we did at things. And once someone who does better comes along (and there will always be someone better), we feel our worth has been compromised, because then what we do isn't as good quality as other people's stuff. That makes us feel that we are worthless. Also when a person thinks that their worth comes from something like their possessions, or their tallent, or stuff like that, they become overly critical of others. It becomes a competition to be the best so we don't end up feeling worthless. When our mind thinks like this, it is apparent with how we criticize others, because it shows how we think, that our worth comes from our abilities. Where does this thinking come from? It may be that a person wants to be loved by others, or wants someone to like them, and they find out that when someone does well at something, it gets people's attentions. Sadly, we will then begin to believe that our worth comes from our abilities or possessions, or appearance, and all kinds of other things that are not the true measure of a person's worth. There's things that can lead to this kind of thinking. For example, being dissapointed by someone you love. My dad dropped me off at my mom's back in '97. He left to Nashville and left me at my mom's old run down house that didn't have enough food or even running water. I'm not only talking to Piccolo, I'm also talking to Radium. We get to feeling that we are worthless, and we have to do something to earn other people's appreciation. That is not true. God has given every person worth, and loves ever single one of us, reguardless of our abilities. When I heard that so many times before, it went into my ears, but I didn't really believe it. Ya know what? We were never ment to serve our abilities. Our abilities are not meant to be our masters. They were made for us, and also so we may have a way to bless others. Never listen to anyone who says your worth is based on your abilities. A person's worth reaches far beyond any stupid abilities. Yeah, I call them stupid. They are stupid compared to what a person's real worth is. I don't care if a person can draw anything they want freehand, or even if they own a whole country and millions of dollars. It is all worthless compared to the worth of that person. And in all of that, if that person looks to all that stuff for his worth, he will find himself empty still. In the words of Matthew, "What profit is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul. Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" On that day that God created man in the garden, he looked at his work and said, "It is very good". Every human is a priceless work of art. We are not some descendants of dumb worthless monkeys. We are created in the image of God. We don't need any fancy abilities to get our worth. Fancy clothes are in style one moment, then sent to the second hand store the next. Our worth doesn't come from fancy things. If it did, then we would be in big trouble once we go out of style. Looking back at what Jesus did, he showed that a man has worth beyond outward appearances. He died on the cross for people who hated him and rejected him and gave him much grief. He did it because He loves us, and there is worth in every human that can't be seen with our eyes. He saw the worth in even the people who hated him the most, and he loved them. He may not have liked them, but he loved them, and us, all. And he still does.

And so some people may not like that I'm talking about Jesus, but I'm not ashamed that I know the answer is Jesus Christ, the salvation of all mankind.

Oh, and friends that only accept you when you preform for them aren't real friends, and you can't get real friends as well if you don't come out from behind the shell of your abilities. Yeah, you are going to have to be yourself, and when you think that being yourself is hurtful, it can be very hard. As one of my old gradeschool teachers said, "the word friend ends with the word 'end' because friends are friends to the end". ^_^ A real friend can see the worth beneath all outward appearances. In todays society, people who look beyond outward appearances aren't the majority. Kinda like people who think a game is great if it has awesome graphics but poor gameplay. That is the way the modern US society thinks. So vain. The bible says that the person who finds a friend finds a great treasure, or something. :P Yeah, it doesn't say "or something" in the bible. That's just my interperatation.

Man... I hate long posts, they are just so darn much to read. And this time, I'm the one who wrote it. I believe it is good info, though.

Oh, and about the eyes on the image again. They are right on the mark. My mom had this really mean boyfriend when I was a kid, and he was a really mean man. His eyes were like that. Real tiny pupils, and he'd look into my eyes with that rage in his face and all. Yup, bad stuff... Er, I mean, the image is accurate in that area.

Uh oh, an evolution debate. I stick by the quote that "God works in mysterious ways". I don't see God as a giant hand that reaches out of the sky, but as an invisible force that generally uses small events to change things. Also take into account that the bible was written thousands of years ago. "And then the natural evolutionary process of carbon cells generated from the water slowly evolved into multi-cellular organisims" is hardly something an ancient scholar would understand or be able to record. And we can't ignore evidence. Religion and science can co-exist usually, and I still believe most of the bible, but when it comes to a debate between every day science and a small error in an ancient text that has been rewritten, translated, and retold orally over the course of over ten thousand years, it's best to go with what you can see first hand.
And about science and religion co-existing, I once compared scientific and biblical theories of creation of the universe. They both matched up almost perfectly in sequence, except every "day" in the bible was equal to about ten billion years in the scientific theory. Too strange to be coincidince.

*sigh*, people get this odd idea I'm craving attention, frendship, and meaning in life. If I want friends, you would be supprised how quickly I make them. I have my reasons for generally not wanting friends, though when I make a friend they usually remain my friend for years to come.
And I don't criticize Faw cruely to do things "right" in an attempt to send him into some depressed vortex of chaos and meaningless, or for me to get friends or attention. I criticize Faw because he needs it. One can be as happy as they want however they are. We can quit our jobs, leave school, live with our parents forever, and enjoy it if we wish. One can mock happiness without doing anything, though it's generally assiciated with drugs. But to reach our actual goals in life, you must never accept your skills as "good enough". We all want to reach goals, but we can't get there without effort.
And like I always say, you should accept criticism, no matter how many ways or excuses you come up with to ignore it. It's ten times easier to just take criticism than to spend your life running from it. Honestly, it's like trying to get a little kid to go to the dentist; you can put it off all you want, but you HAVE to do it eventually.

The worst thing we can do is stop trying to be the best. Everyone wants to be the best. Some people will become the best. Future generations will have to become better than these people to become best. As the definition of "best" is raised, it becomes a record we have to try harder to break. Striving for perfection is the only way our species can advance.

But back on topic: The eyes are offset from the irises, is what I was trying to say.
