Hey guys, i need a bit of help from ya again ^^
Well, for the last week or so on my JJ2 versions (1.23 and TSF, but mostly TSF) I have had problems of my fps decreasing dramatically in any server. I press F9 twice and i get 65 fps (which is normally at 70 fps) and it suddenly drops to about 20 fps, and once it went down to 2 fps!
I have been running no unsusual programs or messing around with things in my registry, however i wondering if cheating programs have anything to do with this. Any help would be appreciated because i cant move very well when i'm tracking down items in my Winter Resort. Hope you guys or girls can help me out, because this is really bugging me! Edit: Windows Version: Windows ME Internet Connection: Cogeco Cable JJ2 versions: 1.23 and 1.24 Levels found mostly in: My Winter Resort using (i think) disguises True Rabbit Hotel Winter version Anyone else complain of lag in my server: Just regular server lag.

First of all, thank you very much for not including a poll in this post.
While the OS information is appreciated, additionally helpful would be your RAM and graphics card information. This is most likely the result of natural slowdown. Have you tried restarting yet after this happens? How often do these dips happen? It's oftentimes a natural thing that happens with computers, but if it is happening more than once per minute, you may have some sort of problem. ~ Traft |

Im sorry Trafton, but i have no idea what my graphix card is.
And my ram? I think i have 11 GB on my C hard drive. more than 100 megs in my jazz2 folder ^^' that might be the problem as well, but i dont know (where's link when ya need him ><) Neways. This has occoured in the past 1-2 weeks and is affecting my gameplay dramatically. Im laggy in servers and i start to time out much more than usual. Which is really strange cuz i have LAN Cable. and not dial-up or anything weird like that. All the ports AFAIK are intact. I try restarting the computer after i become laggy, however the problem keeps continuing. And i have disabled non essentials in the MSCONFIG, but that dosent help either I hope all this has given you more information to work on

This sounds similar to a problem I used to have ages ago. There is likely a program slowing you down. Check your Ctrl+Alt+Delete list; close anything unneeded there. The program in particular that caused problems for me was "Dssagent", a Broderbund spyware program. I would also recommend a spyware\adware check, and a virus scan, as well as Windows maintenance such as defragmentation and scandisk.
If none of this helps, get rid of Windows ME.

![]() Anyways i've done ctrl+alt+del many a time, and all that's running is Explorer, and when running, jazz2. Nothing else. Sometimes MSN Explorer and MSN Messenger, but less than a month ago, that didnt pose a problem. However i didnt start checking my FPS until 2 weeks ago when i realized my gameplay was starting to get a bit laggy and choppy. So this problem might have been going on for sometime. All that i can tell you is that i will try and run defrag and scan. Thx for you're help. I will edit this post when i get the results.

i dunno, its just the last few weeks that mine has been acting strangely. Maybe its spyware which i dunno how to get rid of (looks for someone to hand out a free link) or it could just be a few tilesets that are killer on my FPS.

http://www.lavasoftusa.com They have a great free program called Ad-Aware that will remove any of the spyware you have. Hope that helps.

a few weeks ago (3-4) i always ran full screen mode and i was always at 68-70 fps. For once ur wrong violet ;D
EDIT: I installed the ad-aware and my fps are still sux. they start at 60 then decrease rapidly over the couce of 3 minutes to 4 fps in full screen. Windowed mode is usually worse for me.
