Well, duh, you gutta fullscreen it or it will be all stretched and ugly. Or play on a small screen (I do that). There is this high res version thing, but it's not out in public afaik. There was a thread about it about half a year ago or something...

I did try it in full screen but it didn’t exactly look great on a widescreen monitor sadly, I thought it might look better maximising it in windowed mode but sadly it looked just as bad as in full screen.
So from what I gather 800x600 is possible and higher resolutions might be too, however a patch probably won’t ever be released because people can see slightly more of the map in multiplayer. Quote:
A poll titled “Should we have a Jazz 2 resolution changer?” from 2006 didn’t exactly sound relevant when I was looking through the results. No harm in asking was there? |

Things go up to 1600 * 1200 and beyond. The problem is that the bigger the resolution, the less stable the game becomes and the crashes increase exponentially. There was a hacked jj2 version that allowed you to use the high resolutions, but the release was private. There were talks whether a patch should be released to allow higher jj2 resolutions, but I'm not sure if the conversations got anywhere.

Yep I’m using 1680x1050 and 1440x900 at the moment, JJ2 looks great in a 640x480 window but that’s just too small.
When you say the game becomes less stable is it still playable or does it crash like almost instantly? I’m guessing you had something to do with the creation of this patch as it says your name is Formerly: Overlord. I’m sure it was you who created some useful patches back in the day, like the one to make JCS ignore passwords. You guys should consider releasing it even if it is buggy, it would be interesting to play about with ![]() |

It's not up to me to decide. I could "leak" the executable, but that wouldn't count as a release.

Ha it's quite a luxery problem
![]() I have 22 inch withscreen now and yes it isn't looking good fullscreen, but in window mode it looks nice + I can see some other programs left or right from the window. That can be usefull for running the JJ2+ command list or chatlogger, its also usefull for MSN though. I think i higher resolution might make some levels look ugly on the upper left, right, above & under side. ![]() For creating my own levels in JCS this screen is just great! ![]() |

Thanks for the explanations CPP, Hopefully one day it might be possible to improve the hacked version, even 800x600 or 1024x768 is an improvement on 640x480
![]() I know what you mean, I’ve been playing about with the levels I created in 1999-2002 and there’s so much more space to do stuff in JCS, too bad I honestly can’t remember how to use it now! |
