I'm a million years late but have been feeling nostalgic lately so I will bump this thread with some insight
I came across as an a------ but it was clearly defense mechanism due to some people being disingenuous, which made me emotionalZ Let me properly dismantle the "R3p was a lagger" myth: First of all, same couple people who said this also listed SkulL and American players such as FireSworD, without any complaints, which is contradictory because: 1) SkulL and I had the same Internet, and 2) American players actually "lagged more" than we did comparatively speaking (depends on the host). SkulL was also my best friend in jj2 for a while, so we played against each other a lot, same location so no lags, we also shared techniques and tricks with each other all the time. His run was short but indeed epic, he was clearly better than me for a while, BUT near the end of his run I caught up with him and started beating him. Enig guy was a good player but once I reached my peak (after my first two years or so) I always beat him. Got nothing to do with lags, just outsmarted him in maps. There was a good reason after all that SkulL made it to FoR, AvK and I made it to DM, despite us being newer and younger. Mostly everyone else was getting rejected and it was deemed impossible. Veg and Gry were allegedly cheaters who used stuff like bigjazz (according to what everyone has been telling me nowadays), so it's funny looking back at how vocal they always were in threads like this. I also read a thread from 2006 and they definitely listed me as one of the best, next to themselves. So them not mentioning me here makes zero sense, and was simply due to some personal/recency bias. I also looked up old 1v1 tourney threads in the last few weeks and it was consistently FS/SJ/Veg/me at the top for years, with Veg's legacy now being stained or at least given the side eye. None of this matters much anymore (to me it clearly does though, lol) but at the time I was young and couldn't really articulate my thoughts. Edit: I'd also like to mention CelL FoR, Blacky[si] and Snooze next to FS, SJ, SkulL and AvK. Shoutout to everyone in DM, FoR, GpW and [si] - definitely the most iconic and legendary clans of the 2000's. Those who were around back then - know. ![]() Last edited by spejsboi; May 19, 2025 at 01:17 AM. |
