(Just to inform you, I am posting this before reading the whole topic, so, yeah...)

What the? That isn't Jazz!!! It's an evil green clone of the bunny that stole his name!!! God is he ugly... are they trying to disinterest his fan-base? (us). What idiots, changing the look.

And I saw screenies of both Dam* and Castle! What? Can't they give us NEW worlds?

Looks like we're just getting a cheap ripoff. I could be wrong, it might actually be good. In that case, this might help us get JJ3 if it is noticed. Otherwise it will just be another slap in the face. (ouch) They won't just ignore us, no, now they're coming down with a shovel to BURY us! (But I'll buy the game, anyway. Out of curiosity. Please don't be as bad as it looks!)

OK, read it now. Heh... didn't say much that I didn't say, anyway.

QUICK, we have to act before it is too late... CHANGE THE NAME OF THE COMMUNITY TO: Jazz 1 and 2 but not that awful GBA game with the same name Community Forums. BEFORE THE NEWBS SWOOP IN!

Furthermore, if a lot of people are interested in this game there is a chance of getting more Jazz games. Err... more Jazz Solo games! Do we really want MORE Jazz games based on THAT?

And there isn't much chance of them changing the look of Jazz back, after they've already done all the sprites and animations etc. But ARG, what's with the blaster? This isn't Duke Nukem! And, I agree with the others, give the rabbit a bandanna for god's sake!

I would like to point out to those remarking on the absense of Spaz and that yellow bunny that these are only a few early screenshots. They haven't confirmed the absense of Jazz's war-buddies. So don't jump to conclusions.

Well, I have said enough. Let us wait and watch. And somebody send the developers an email or something! They are unaware how much we detest this 'new look'.

I think that we should wait to see if the siblings are in it or not before we pitch a **** party about that. It just says like (no spaz?) or something. It doesn't say he's not in it. Give them a chance. At least they saw Jazz Jackrabbit. (edit: Hadn't read ANJ2F's post yet)

But I feel kind of like I did when they changed the guy that played Watson in the Return of Sherlock Holmes. But I learned to love him as Watson, despite his great differences. Not that this new Jazz will EVER be loved as much as our Jazz...

Let's wait 'til it comes out to judge.

Actually, I'm worried that if Spaz IS at all in the game, he might end up looking like a red long-eared wookie.

Also, I have to say that my fear of the change is kind of less of a personal thing and more of a brain thing. Being how I am, I REALLY fear change... even in video games (For example, I still call the Princess in the Mario Bro's world Princess Toadstool... I hated her new name, and I still hate it.) even in cartoons (LOLA BUNNY REEKS!) and since nothing was changed when Commander Keen got ported to GBC, I don't see why we have to have a "hip new Starwars Jazz" when good old Rambo Jazz hasn't lost his usefulness... OR his cuteness, I might add.

Also, I never thought of Devan as King of the turtles- he was just a nerd scientist with a clone army who wanted to conqure the planet. Who knows, maybe there were some turtles who labled him as an outcast when he was a hatchling.

And I agree to making a "Bring back the Jazz we know and love" patition. We ARE the ones going to be buying it, so our opinions have SOME significance.

I love making alagories, so here I go.

If I'm a kid, and I love puddin with raisens in it, and I et it all the time, then had to stop because it got old and people forgot how to make it...then someone makes puddin without raisens, it still tastes a lot the same, it's still good ol' pussin'.

I'm just saying we should give them a chance. If you don't like it, ignore it, stick to JJ1 and 2, but don't nag the people who at least cared enough to make a game. It's still a platformer with a green rabbit named Jazz Jackrabbit who's fighting (gurgle) Dark Shell (okay, what the heck is that all about you sorry sumguns?).

But really, these guys probably put time and money into this game, and work, so let's at least give it a chance as a GAME. That's what I had to do with LOTR movie, except it as a fantasy flick and not LOTR. It was a good fantasy flick. And now, I love it as Lord of the Rings.

What's with this renaming bad-guys trend, anyway? First Sonic changes Dr. Robotnik to the much dumber sounding 'Eggman', now Dark Shell?

Has it occurred to anyone that this might NOT be Devan? Maybe it's some other turtle. (I certainly hope it is.)

They should name this game Jazz Jr. or something.

Finally, about the gun, my hope is that when you change ammo (Blaster, Launcher, RFs) Jazz changes the gun. So maybe the traditional blaster gun is still in there... (hopeful.)

I still think that they should give the game a different name. If they don't want to be making a JJ game, then use some other character. Don't mar our world.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm still giving them a chance: I said so, like, 3 times. Looking back at the examples I gave before, I still play Mario, I just still call her Toadstool. I still watch Looney Tunes, I just still pretend that Bugs is in love with good old Honey Bunny(If you don't know who she is, you need to do some research on Bug's old girlfreind before Spacejam wrecked the whole thing... in my opinion, of course.).
And when I play Jazz for GBA, I just will still call Devan by his origional name... But I still will miss the bandana- that thing is in the visuals, and I cant just mentally cover up a word with another word.

I still will be the first in my neighbor hood to try it- it just might take me a little longer to accept the changes due to my poor inferior brain.

Oh, and Another Jazz 2 fan: thats a good idea- Like what happened with Mega Man X.

One more thing- I'm not surprised that it's Game Titan: those guys messed with my buddy Aero the Acrobat too... but at lease HE looked the same as he always did.

Want proof it's a Star Wars ripoff?

Check out the gun - his sidearm from Star Wars: A New Hope, then compare it to Jazz's new one.

Then of course there's the 'Dark Shell'

Dark Shell is so obviously Darth Vader it isn't even funny. And that "Don't push" button is dumb and childish. What evil genius would put a "don't push" button on his outfit? I think I could enjoy the game more if it wasn't Jazz Jackrabbit. It doesn't seem anything like JJ, judging from the screenies. (I would prefer something more akin to JJ1. That game rocked.)

Actually, Dr. Robotnik's Japanese name IS Dr. Eggman. Same with Toadstool. Her "real" Japanese name is, and always was, Peach. So technically, changing their names to Eggman and Peach was MORE accurate. Now on topic....
In the JJ1 manual, it describes a group called the "Galactic Rabbits", who send Jazz to defeat Devan when he captures Eva. I always thought of the Galactic Rabbits as some sort of rabbit space police group, and that's standard attire and weaponry. Maybe Jazz was so different in JJ1 because he was a higher rank or something. Whether I'm right or not, there are basically three possibilities.

1: This is a Mega Man X type spinoff.
2: This is a JJ1 prequel (but unlikely, because JJ1 was assumingly Devan's first Carrotus conquer attempt)
3: This is a JJ2 sequel.

Also, just before I forget, Devan is described as both a "king of tortises" and a "turtle terrorist". Unless, he's a king who's a terrorist. This sorta reminds me of the Mario Sunshine contreversy, except SMS wasn't nearly as drastic in its changes than this. I'll probabaly try this, regardless, but I'm not positive I'll like it. I'dve settled for a JJ1 remake with a higher resolution.

Okay, okay. Let's cool off for a second here...

We are all complaining, just being a bunch of die-hard Jazz fanboys or fangirls. Whining about his new look, and HEY - I'm doing this as well, I agree with all of you! Sometimes it's hard at first, but you get used to a new look and go on with life. It's not the new look IN ITSELF that upsets me. It's that they are not trying an 'original' idea for Jazz, they are simply ripping off Star Wars! Now, Jazz may get hardly any respect. He already 'borrowed' moves from Sonic the Hedgehog, now his look is based on Star Wars! Jazz can hold his own. He needs no ones help!

Ahem. Anyway. No use in getting all pessimestic about it. We were talking before if Jazz would ever get a future, and new games made at all. He is now! Let's not ignore that all together and get made about it. Okay, so it's a Star Wars rip off, Nick Stadler is not involved, and it's not even being made by Epic, but that doesn't neccessarily mean it will suck.

Possibly, it could be because of the come-back of Star Wars with the popular prequels being made. Star Wars is rather popular. Maybe this is what Jazz needs to get new gamers' attention, and then maybe if it is a success, there may be a Jazz 3 in the works! However, I don't want them to make Jazz 3 like this new Jazz game. No Star Wars stuff if Jazz 3 is made. PLEASE...

Anyway, I'm pretty upset, and yet happy too. I will wait and see how it goes. The only problem is I don't own a GameBoy Advance, and I don't think I'll buy one for this game. Oh well.

I just thought of something. What if the whole Star Wars thing is just ONE PART OF THE GAME...Think about it! What if this is like that Gex game (which I didn't like much BTW) where each level or level set parodies a movie or TV show? It's not TOO far-fetched, but it's still probabaly not true. Or...maybe this is taking a cue from JJ3, and reusing the time machine plot. Perhaps this is just a future level, which would be invaded by Devan, and it rips off...er PAYS TRIBUTE to SW. Probabaly not though, it's probabaly what the whole game will be like, so we just have to accept it, or take the company who's making it by storm. But, I do think we're being ungrateful here. We've waited like 4 years for news of a new Jazz game, not counting the dissapointment that was JJ3, which was probabaly doomed from the start, and now we're taking it for granted. I say, they SHOULD stick with the Jazz we know and love. If this is a marketing test, it's not very good, considering that the REAL Jazz is completely different. I think we should classify this as a "spinoff" and move on.

I was just fixing to post my newest idea, but it's already been hinted at (but still different).

Maybe it's just a part of it. Maybe it starts out before he's Jazz as we know him (as I've said before, a sort of prequel), and that's like his uniform at first. It would make sense, in my head, but I doubt they'd make the game that deep. Who knows though.

Also, I'd say it's more of a tribute/humorous rip on SW, and a very open and obvious one.

Alright, I hate the sprites too. Jazz is simply not Jazz without his bandana, and the whole Dark Shell and Jazz's blaster makes me want to personally e-mail whoever in the world is making this game (even though I know it would do nothing).

But here's how I'm gonna look at it...we all say that Jazz looks much much younger, I agree, and so I thought HEY! At the end of Jazz 2 don't Jazz and Eva get married? And so perhaps this new look is actually Jazz and Eva's offspring, Jazz the Second, Royal Prince of Carrotus. Okay, it's farfetched and likely false, but still...and this doesn't help with the SW rip at all.

I can almost imagine how they would get the idea of making Jazz into a SW rip, though. Look at Jazz 1, before every couple levels when you are going to a new world there is a plannet with a name, and you're flying through space battling...in a sense it's a lot like SW. And as harsh as it is, Jazz 1 was basically a Sonic rip for PC (which was what got me started on Jazz in the first place). So we could get some SW loving people who play Jazz for GPA, and so they find the PC games on EBay or something, and they get those, and hey, maybe we'll get some fresh faces with some talent in level making and good at online play. Or maybe we'll get a bunch of idiots, who knows? We'll get n00bs either way.

The only thing that really irks the shibby out of me is this will further delay the coming of the source code. Crazy. Where is Nick, Noog, Arjan, and Cliffy? Curses.

Actually, come to think of it this parody on SW thing is actually very Jazz like. I've always thought of Jazz Jackrabbit being a game that parodies them all. Just look at the game references:
in JJ1
- Sonic (duh)
- Terminator
- Jill o' the Jungle
and I don't want to begin listing the obvious references to other games/movies in JJ2.

And, as said before, we can cry and whine but it won't help. The game is pretty much finished already and all we can do now is wait.
I'm actually looking forward to the whole slew of noobs.

Nick? No idea.
Noogy? Elysium Tail.
Arjan? Erm, LostBoy's?
Cliffy? Unreal Tournament 2003

Sonic? Well okay, but not JJ2, JJ1 was based on Sonic but the follow up games have their own style - proper grounding and it became a recognisable lineup. Terminator...since when has it had terminator? Jill of the Jungle was an Epic game afaik. Star Wars has nothing to do with Epic, and Jazz has a personality now, why change it?

Hi Newspaz, thanks for the heads-up. I had no idea anyone was making a Jazz game, though I remember rumors of a GB version some time ago. I tried to find some info on the company making it but had no luck. I'm not too thrilled about the new design, and I think the artwork is absolutely horrible, but if it plays like Jazz then it should be a cool game.

The funny thing is I kinda recognize the drawing style, but I'm not quite sure who it was. Definitely not my stuff. I prefer the old fashioned Jazz that Nick originally designed. I'll miss him.

I must say something.

We all grow up and change our looks and stuff right? Well, Jazz is no different. Just like Conker, he's changed into a drinking buffoon. Of course Jazz is thankfully not going to be like that. heh.

However, if Game Titan is developing this game, I HOPE that they'll put more concentration on the title than that crappy Earthworm Jim port.

HORRIBLE EVIL PATHETIC PORT! Floaty movement and crappy level resizing. AAAAHHHHRRRGGGHHHH!!!!

Thumbs up Jazzzz Gba!!!

Hi! I am new here! I heard that JAZZZZ was going to be coming for GBA! I can't believe that there is a large community already for it!

Derby: Threads merged. By the way, have you already forgotten your password for the username, "papercut"?

All I know is this: I won't be able to make levels for this game. Blast. :-)

I dunno, I'll prolly snag a copy of it. Jazz on-the-go. Fun for all.

We are NOT a community for Jazz on GBA. We're the community for Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (PC (rules)).

Great news to hear Jazz, Spaz and the gang will be off on another

Jeh's not the only one who'll need to get a GBA. Of course, I won't be able to.
