Re: FQuist's concerns
What if the newer account was renamed to 'Michael_old' instead of 'Nitro', and also frozen (as Michael suggested) to prevent posting?
I think swapping is fair, or at least precedented (several others have requested name swapping, as well as Tublear who requested changes for inactive accounts).

Please add the (C) Copyright logo to my name... I don't exactly know where to get it.
Oh, and no formerly tag needed. ![]() |

I do not know about these precedents.. I haven't noticed them. Preventing posting on one of the accounts seems to be a good measure in whatever situation.
Maybe it's precedented.. I still think that renaming just for the vanity thing of making your registered date display as older is not a good thing (so it would be a bad precedent). Renaming seems to be a good thing, it allows users to continue identifying (feeling connected and involved) with their jcf accounts even when they get another name. Vanity renaming and especially name switching seems to me that it grants us work while having very little benefit to anyone, not being neccessary at all for having the user still identify with their account, and having the negative result of the user's post record breaking. I definitely consider that last thing to be an issue. I would generally disrecommend switching for that reason. (I also must think about the future warning system here and how it would break too this way) As Link is the admin most involved in name changing though (having designed the policy too) I'll heed to his opinion.

Hmm... If I copy+paste the Copyright logo into the forums, it becomes Ó. Can somebody make it into a (C) copyright logo and put it at the end of my name?
Thanks Edit: CrimiClown® (® > ©) ![]() Thanks in advance.

Skeven and CrimiClown have been changed. I don't think 'AdminHat' would be allowed though.
(I've also neglected a former username tag for CrimiClown because there will clearly be no confusion.)

N0B0DY, we could ban you but you would still be able to see the forums. Are you sure you want to be banned, and if so, for how long?

I have a feeling that people are starting to abuse this service, or at least make unnecessary name changes. I've changed the thread title to include "Read first post", and have removed the reversal exception.
If you have requested a name change recently and it has not yet been completed, you must confirm that you want the change and that it will be your name for at least five months. This means that the following people will not have their name changed until they post their confirmation: Snooze R3p Grytolle MSB3000 Other: Stijn, why should such symbols not be allowed? Images will not appear in usernames and would not be allowed if they did. You can have smilies like :-) but they will not appear as images.

R3p, I just realized that your last name change was less then 5 months ago, so your name cannot be changed at this time.
N0B0DY, your ban request has been denied after discussion among the administrators. We just felt that it's not really an appropriate use of resources, and it would set a precedent for more ban requests. Try your own measures, such as putting jazz2online.com and www.jazz2online.com in your hosts file with a fake IP (e.g. 127.0.0.1).

As I'm posting onto this community again. I like to use J2O under a different username than my real name. But I hate to make a new account. So can you please change my name to: Hareking
I'm really going to post on here if my username is changed. And remember that I'm not a noob anymore, I've learned better English and I've much more community experience. Last edited by niek; Nov 26, 2005 at 10:42 PM. |

I wanted to rename myself 'Jerry RR' becouse there is another jerry on Jazz2 and my clantag is the only way to know who is who. But becouse I may not have a clantag in my name, just keep it as it is. Sorry for this nonsense post, I'm just bored.

niek: There is already a user with the name 'Hareking'. If this is you, I can change its name, but if not, you'll have to choose something else.

They don't show up on the member list for some reason, but the account is still there.
