That's because there was discussion on your name change - and there still is. It's unlikely to go through. Thing is, there's already a prominent person with a nickname "Shadow" on this board (ShadowGPW), and wether you use '.:Shadow:.' or not, you're essentially renaming yourself to a nick that is already in use. Wether that's going to be allowed or not, it's recommendable that you do not change your nickname to the same nickname as active/popular community figures (same as when say, you'd rename yourself to '.:R3ptile:.', '*Dethman*', '.:CraccoBoy:.' or '-=Cooba=-' or something like that) since that will just breed confusion. It seems the board crew is tending towards disallowing name changes like that.

In my personal non-admin opinion, it's silly to do, too. If there's already someone with the name you want, surely you can come up with another one (you actually already have a different name). It's just not respectful towards a person to copy their name. It's also disrespectful to ask if someone else can be renamed to another account name just because you want that account name.

Have you spoken with ShadowRR, the other ShadowRR, and the other - what, 6,000? - Shadows which we have had in this community? The crux of the issue is that the name change would cause confusion, not whether the original nameholder would object.

I personally don't think it would. Not many would even *think* ShadowRR was back. Or do I have to re-instate the PE tag for your majesties to have my name changed? This is my decision of who I want to be called, not the other 4,000 or so members'. Plus, would YOU beleive ShadowRR to be back? I think not. Over time the tag will most likely to change to AW.

And I don't see why you continue to whine about confusion online. That matter is fine, I've already done the change, it's the JCF, and I am not asking to be ShadowRR, and the first Shadow hasn't been online for a looooooooooong time. I don't want a daggy "Rabbit" on the end. I hate it. So if I can't change it, why bother being called a name I despise?

Too bad the majority of the users probably does think it would create confusion!

There have been loads of Shadows. The name has become so generic that nobody would be exactly sure who it is.

And why wouldn't ShadowRR, Shadow, ShadowGpW or any I dont know anymore, come back?

I don't think your non-arguments (they do not address the problem with the name-change) are getting you any closer to a name change, so don't bother to spend more energy on repeating these points that have little to do with the reason we are not renaming you right now. Unless the discussion in the admin forums makes a weird turn, it's just not going to happen. You can always remove the "Rabbit" from the end and put something else on the end if you mind being called Shadowrabbit.

Perhaps you should in fact read Frank's posts in which he in detail explained why you will not get your name changed to "Shadow" (or annoying variations like ".:Shadow:.". As the nice person that I am I will give you the most important reason:

• There's another community member commonly referred to as "Shadow" too, so if you rename to Shadow it will lead to confusion.

Understood? Can you then stop cluttering this thread with posts that will not get you your namechange anyway?

And before you try to counter this with the non-argument that Shadow is in fact called Shadow[GpW], nobody refers to him as "Shadow[GpW]". Just like nobody refers to me as "Stijn[TF]" or to Trafton as "Trafton DM".

Shadow[GpW] is never online when I am. Simple science.

I don't really follow your logic, if I renamed myself to "ShadowRabbit." I think it would create quite some confusion, even while we are never online at the same time. This is a forum, where messages are saved, not a chatbox where you read and forget messages.
