Pjoe on you all. I am much more into punk, emo, and industrial nowadays. A little NuMetal. I used to love Linkin Park until I came to the realization that they are the "hard rock" version of something like the Backstreet Boys, they're too commercialized and squeeky-clean. I like Puddle of Mudd, and a little RHCP. But you -did- forget Rage Against the Machine, although I don't think they've been around nearly as long. Also, where is the Smashing Pumpkins, or are they not hard enough?

And Marylin Manson's music rocks, 'nuff said.

Whoa whoa whoa, RHCP is punk? That's crazy =P RHCP isn't punk at all imho. Oh well, who knows. Personally I'm into the more 'melodious' punk like MxPx, Green Day, NFG, Slick Shoes, Hangnail, Blink182, Snax, Ace Troubleshooter, Saves the Day (emo punk, rock on). Whoo.

Yes yes, it isn't rock. My method is just to label anything like that as Alternative, and then you win any way you look at it.

Oh, I and I forgot to mention Taproot, Sevendust, and Korn. Shame on me.

I don't really consider Twisted Sister much of anything. They were a fairly uninteresting one hit wonder.

No, foo Twisted Sister. Ha, and the whole Parental Advisory label on Albums (Records, Tapes, and CDs) thing started with them. Trafton, the poll isn't for myself but for everyone I tried to pull out the best, I think I am going overboard though and I am adding too much.

I did, too. There's really no "best." I can imagine that we could list a million bands here and some would still feel sad about their's not being listed.

Yeah I like them too, I also like some other 80's bands (even though some of them have newer stuff too) such as tears for fears too. But there are some other groups I really like like too, such as Bare Naked Ladies. I guess the better topic would be what is your favorite type/era of music. But I think that topic was already started and as far as I can remember practicaly ended with people flaming each other because they considered some type of music that wasn't really its own type, or forgot some stuff and such. My favorite era was the 80's, but I like most 90's and newer music too. Also I like a variety of music except heavy rap, and country music.

I don't think that all of the beatles songs are pure rock either, the beatles mostly made 'beat' music as that's called.

where is lynyrd skynyrd?
lynyrd skynyrd is the best old rock band.
our lady peace is the best living. well, and travis and coldplay, but they're a bit too new. i don't know though, travis is sorta old. anyway, our lady peace i'd say is well old enough as they started in 1992 [though their first album didn't come out until 94], and are sort of a post-grunge band. anyway.
also, i'm really sad to see that nirvana isn't on that list. nirvana is so frikken great. i would totally have voted for them.

grunge is rock. grunge is just a flavour to rock.
all of those bands do not fall under the same genre at all [for instance, weezer and the eagles? uh, hold on, let me check...no].

Even kurt cobain stated it wasn't grunge.

it just happened to come out of seattle at the same time as grunge did.

a lot of people claim not to be something and fall into the genre anyway. they were deffinantly not punk, and they were fairly grunge. there are a lot of people out there who are grunge only because of nirvana.

I refuse to vote because Nirvana wasn't mentioned.
Nor was "Weird Al" Yankovic. He isn't entirely rock, but he sings a lot of rock songs. Who can forget 'Smells Like Nirvana'?

No, I refuse to put Weird Al in the poll. He's various/parodies. Or a combo of the 2. Nirvanna wasn't thought up at the time. Darn, I only got 10 options! So just choose other.
