Actually, I hit the install and it froze.
We found out that the installation is faulty. Just extract the cab file. ;p

Here's something I made... granted it looks bad...

Back up your old level0.000

Get it here

Wow. Not only does this program force the user to actually read the readme for a change, but in my opinion it could also revolutionize the Jazz community if developed further and made into an easily useable program and adds a way to access the levels without overwriting the old levels... and in general gets better. I can't even say the JJ2 community for this.

The version that was released on J2O dissapointed me, because in the picture you showed just now, it showed the names of the events...

That proved to be impossible once we started to decode other levels.

There is no manual within the cab file...

Wat do I click?

...anyways drop the whole thing, I did not believe this at first because I thought nobody would care.

Ice was then saying his thanks (since there was no readme) and explicitly excluded me. Now, I was possibly the only reason why anybody would care about this project, so I was the person that got people intrested.

You (Ice and NS) were right, I was wrong, leave it at that. Nobody else has to rub it in (like I had at least a dozen people do to me.) I cannot go into a server without getting told to me "PWNED!" by some fool that doesn't know how to work JCS correctly. (Now who's Pwned?) I walk in and say two things: "Hello" and "Not a word."

I've already made some changes to the program. You can now select tiles from the level window with the "B" button and can select Events and paste events without going to the event window by using the Ctrl + E and Shift + E combos. I also plan to add Event names... only for the event window and not the Level window. This should make people a bit happier. I'm also making an Undo function.

[Edit]

Ok... all the above was implemented. The new version should be up shortly. Check back here and we'll tell you when the new version is out. A lot of bugfixes and special features were added. =)

Because it's a lousy VB installer. Just unarchive the CAB file.

OK, now I see it. I think it doesn't fit into my 800x600 Windows resolution. It's great! Yeah, extremely hard, but once you got control over it you can mess much more than in JJ2 JCS! It can help with making tileset conversions, but I think that makers will still need some old printsreen methods, since animation frames are not in the tileset.

Just so you know, when you open a tileset or a level, the tileset appears in a file called blocks.bmp in perfect format. JJ2 tileset conversions made simple.

Making JJ1 conversions from the Blocks images is about as bad as editing those things that come with JJ2. You don't have any tiles with mountains behind them, there's no background included, and none of the animations are there. Not to mention the tile placement could be better.
Stick with Backspace+F2, it gets better results. (Print screen? err?)

Am I the only one Getanims.exe doesn't work for? It keeps saying it can't create Getanims.exe.txt.

The program can be updated easily to do all this.. the background mountain stuff is just a single colour (black?) drawn where transparent is.. that'll take all of a minute to code. Background would be no problem.. well.. actually it may if there ARE different styles for the background.. the animations are palette based, so those can be done programatically as well, but would take a bit longer since I don't know the ranges of the palette which changes (thought I do know how they change)... so.. all in all I could do it tomorrow. ;p

As for placement.. yeah.. I'd agree. But that's how nick had it, and cliffy used...

And I haven't played around with Getanims.exe, but shouldn't that txt file be in the current working directory (and be opened instead of created then..)?

The Getanims.exe.txt file is included with the program and should be put in the same directory as Getanims.exe

Yes, it exists, and shows what I presume are the animations for Level0.000. It gives me an error whenever I try to get it to show a different level's animations.

This presumtion is incorrect. That file contains references for ALL animations and is NOT meant to be overwritten. Pick a new txt file... It's only a few Kb. ;p

Actually, I was sort of hoping if people would upload levels onto Jazz2online just for the kicks of it.
