Looks good, what exactly is your project about?

I'd personally like Jazz to look a bit more athletic (he seems to have gained some weight around the hips), but that's mostly a matter of taste.

Well I try to make a shortmovie about Jazz, or maybe a game but since I´ve got no knowledge on programming it probably will remain a movie.

there isn´t a story at this point
I´ll need to finish the face-rig first, so he can show emotions and speak,
run a few test-animations and after that I´ll let the forum decide on a story
it shouldn´t be to long though.

I took the reference picture from here
and thats where the weight around the hips comes from :P

but I´m happy you like it^^

hmmm only thing is he has paws in place of hands right now and I'm not sure if that keeps to the whole concept of a rabbit wielding a gun.

Sorry, I'm being a critic, but also, perhaps if you had something else to texture him with, a bit more brighter, less serious colors. The game was supposed to be in a cartoon format, and I would rather not lose that in a 3D remake. Aside from that, I must say, he's looking quite like he should, and no matter what happens, I hope this game works out for you

these 3d rabbits are ridiculously hilarious, in a cute kind of way. As in, it's ridiculous how funny they are.
Isn't Jazz a hardcore veteran? Does he not stump turtles for a living?!

Looks good. I know how to use blender a bit myself, although I'm certainly no expert, and I might be able to contribute somehow. It seems to me he could use smooth shading or a subsurf modifier to make him look rounder and more organic, although that's just my opinion.

Yeah, but he's a cartoon character. Yosemite Sam is canonically widely feared, but that doesn't stop him from looking funny.

I personally like this model. Granted, it doesn't seem to have many polygons, but maybe with the use of some filters and effects it will look smoother. But I know crap about modelling to be honest.

ok I started texturing Jazz
and I started making a Spaz model

Jazz v. 2.5 + Spaz v. 1

and thanx for all your posts and I will answer them all

1. @ Jake:
Yeah I could ask him,
but I think for starters a shortmovie would also be easier
and wouldn´t consume that much time,
but I´d till love to make it into a game afterwards

2. @ Dermo:
thanks for the advice, I´m already making hands,
but its rather difficult with cartoon hands so i guess i use the cheap method
and cut of one finger [muhahaha] so its easier to animate.
And i made the colors on the texture a bit brighter
but i think i may post a sheet with multiple color-variations later on,
so you can choose which one looks best

3. @ IconGuy:
yeah i know he looks more cute than dangerous
but i didn´t want him to end up like this. WARNING: Badass Jazz!
and maybe it all takes place before he was a hardcore turtlestomping rabbit? ^^

4. @ Troglobite:
I already thougt about those two,
but smoothshading had some problems (you can see em on spaz right now)
and subsurf made it smoother, but it ended up to rounded
so i have to make some changes on the model first,
if you want you can download the Jazz v.2 model here
its a .blend file.

and 5. @ Double GJ:
not much to say, well thanks for your nice comment,
and all models are still beta, they will undergo many changes before its all done,
so yeah they will get more polygons and I´m gonna use lots of modifiers and effects to make 'em perfect

ok now to my spaz Model....
he isn´t even beta, he still needs loooots of work
especially on the fur, and yeah maybe bigger teeth
and a more crazy look over all

so keep those comments coming, next models will have hands

I recommend admins splitting the latest posts into another thread. There's already a lot of posts only about this project and it looks that there'll be a next lot of them.

Btw, looks nice. It's hard for me to really tell something at the moment as you looks like knowing everything what's needed to do. The only important thing I noticed is lack of those blue things Spaz has on his arms and foots, and orange things on Jazz's arms.

I wish you good luck on your project!

JakeMuffin, May i ask what program you are using for this? (or at least what file extension the models are?) because if they are certain ones I may be able to make these into Super Smash Bros Vertex Hacks/Texture replacements

I find most problems I have with smooth shading can be solved by going into edit mode, and recalculating the normals (ctrl+n in 2.49, and I assume it's the same in 2.53).

Jazz 3D Model v.3

now with hands and subsurf modifier to make it more highpoly

but I think i may have to remake the hands, they turned out pretty crappy...

now to answer some comments

1. @plunK:
I use Blender for 3D stuff, and the extension is .blend but i could import the models to almost any other format if you like,
[.x .obj .3ds .lwo .dxf, etc...]
Here`s the most recent .blend if anyone´s interested

2. @Troglobite:
Yeah but recalculating didn´t change anything, and just so you know I´m still stuck with the 2.49 version, I hate the new interface of 2.5+ just to many changes xP

oh and before i forget....
HOLY ****
GJGJ That Pic looks awesome!
I wish I could draw like that!
I even bought an expensive Wacom-Tablet and I still suck at drawing!!! Dx

and yeah, Admins if you´re reading this, please make me my own thread.
So i don´t have to keep spamming the Miscellaneous Art one.

I really dig this v3, only complaint is imo his mouth just doesnt look right with the teeth size and all.

and Dude...... if you can send over a .obj i can give a try at some things, it would be very much appreciated.

Looking really good now. Some things I could suggest, try to separate his toes a bit and make the inner parts of the ears. Also, as good as the wristbands look, they should be orange, not red.

And thank you for the comment on my picture.

huhhhh?

How did I not notice the eyes? They're fake looking, no offense. That texture is horrible and needs a more 3D feel to it. I'm not saying re-do the eyes in layers, I'm saying re-do the texture in a more 3D-suited way. Also, the green clashes with the rabbit's fur too much...

It's looking pretty good! A few things could use adjusting, though. If you look at Jazz's sprites, you can see that the teeth are bigger and that the eyes overlap the bandana. I know they're more cartoony and they didn't have 3d models in mind when the sprites were made, but it's a thought. Oh, and the ears seem to be missing the pink inside. I've really got to learn how to use Blender one of these days.

The model from JJ3 didn't have the eyes overlapping the headband, so you have some support there, even though both Nick and Dean drew them that way consistently. The armbands have never been the same color as the headband, tho.

v3 looks really cool there. I would LOVE to see that in a computer game!

minor details
-make the eyes a little more oval-shaped. I also believe jazz's eyes were blue.
-flatten the tail a little on the back.
-I think the backpack also has two brown flap buttons
