Scream at the right frequency to shatter the door.

You walk down the south hallway, but are stopped dead in your tracks by a blast of heat. The room is filled with burning coals - it has to be some kind of furnace. Smoke comes from a vent on the west wall. You think you see a door at the end of the room, but the heat is too extreme to reach it.

You return to the dial and turn it east. You walk down the east corridor until you reach a small room. There are doors on the north and south sides of the room - both slightly ajar. The string of lights goes through the south door, from behind which you again hear the hum of machinery. Though there are no lights going in the north door, you see a moving light coming from behind it.

You walk through the south door. A large machine with no obvious controls is built against the west wall. Pieces of a human skeleton are on the ground here (notably with one finger bone in the electrical outlet). Judging from the ring of keys lying next to him, you'd say you found the repair man.

Forgot a north. Me add.
You take the ring of keys. Game saved. You return north and walk through the northern door. The room is empty - except for a grayish-brown fox wearing a formal tux with two long, brown trenchcoats over it. "G'day n' g'mornin', m'gal!" ge exclaims, preforming a rather exaggerated bow. |

"Ayup!" you say in your lamest accent, bowing, "who be ye? Right Cheerio."
"M'name's Felipe Oliver Xei. Y'cn call me Fox fer short," he says. He tries to bow again, but stumbles over his two long coats. You can't help but notice that he's wearing a pear of winter mittens over his hands. |

"A merchant, I am," Fox begins, "I sells magic, in trade for items!" He pulls open his trenchcoats; parchments, scrolls, and small books are taped, pinned, or tied to every pocket. "And, if that don't do ye," he drops one of the coats back down, showing the variety or random trinkets of varying value hanging on the other coat, "e'also sells items, in trade fer magic!"

"Eh whut do the pheonix i'ems do?" you ask in your degrading accent.
"Well, phoenix down raises dead," Fox begins, "Phoenix tears can heal, phoenix feces probably has some use, n' phoenix meat is what y' do with the bird after it's been feathered." You offer to trade your knowledge of Haste for the Phoenix Down. "A level one spell fr' Phoenix Down?" he asks, unsure, "Maybe, if it was a spell I didn't have, but I don't really see much incentive fr' me in ther'." He glances around, pulls out a bag of Doritos and starts snacking. The sight of food makes your stomach growl; it's been a good while since you've eaten anything. |
