What broken can opener? There's a broken can opener? I claim the page in the name of my stupidity.

L33tz4n (who is no longer the Snufuss) hacks Google. Google no longer exists. In your mass confusion you break the harddrive and fix it and break your ears and fix them. So much fun. Then you look at Araches through the crystal for a while until she notices she can see the insides of your eyes and hurts you fairly bad.
Inf. Spaz got this freakishly correct, but not entirely. You return to the trading post and switch the sparkly rock for the broken can opener. You then repair the can opener, open the can, and find a key. However, it isn't the key to the gate (the gate has no lock). I'll save you an easy step and unlock the diary. Inside the diary there is a series of ascii characters and meanings and mathamatical formulas; an entire encryption code. You have found Pandora's Code! Decode Pandora's Harddrive with the Code

Decoding a harddrive would take a hacker and a computer, would it not? Though you CAN add to the Thirdnotestrudel a bit.

Go to Cyber Cafe.
Give L33tz4n Pandora's Harddrive. Give L33tz4n Pandora's Code. Tell L33tz4n to decode Pandora's Harddrive. Ask Fawriel to heal Uberbob. |
Sep 3, 2003, 12:38 PM | |
For anyone wondering, it's now pronounced Third-Note-Ducts-Strudel-Lire.
L33tz4n gets the computer to process the code, but it is so complex it could take hours to finish. Perhaps you'd best leave it alone to work for a while. |
Sep 3, 2003, 12:41 PM | |
Leave L33tz4n with the computers.
Give Fawriel Thirdnoteductstrudelire and Speckled Rock. Tell Fawriel to guard against invisible gremlins. Take Araches and set off for the volcano. |
Sep 3, 2003, 12:46 PM | |
Leaving Faw and L33tz4n, you and Araches set off to the Volcano. The base of the active volcano is an almost vertical slope, going up as far as you can see. All plant life down here is dead, most likely from toxic gases from the volcano.

Once again I must remind you the crystal is unable to see through stone walls. Fawriel teleports to Faw's Domain, trying to remember the secrets. Sadly, the structure either contains no secrets or Fawriel contains no memory, because it doesn't work.

Curses, I forgot about the wings. Evidently you got a free rope for nothing.
Atop the ledge you find a surprising sight; a swimming pool has been built into the stone ground. Though the water has long since dried up, a white foam still trickles from the vents. In the center of the pool lies a decayed human skeleton, reaching for a sparkling silver item. |
Sep 3, 2003, 04:37 PM | |
You and your party bend closer to the skeleton to take a look. No bones are broken, this person probably drowned. Of course, no sooner do you get near the edge of the pool than glowing chains shoot from it's depths and tear you into the pool, painfully smashing you on the ground. Well, now closer to the silver item you can see it's a set of car keys. Only now do you remember Araches's story about Pandora, and how she died forgetting how to dispell enchanted chains in her pool. Well, now you know why she was in the rigged pool to begin with; she had dropped her car keys. The chains tighten around your bodies, pulling the three of you tighter to the ground. You also notice the white foam still comes from the pool because it's rabid, and like the alligator this prevents all magic (including load game and town pipe).

Oh, you make the "Go to Party" such a simple command, just like everyone carries around a pair of synthetic wings or knows how to cast "Town Pipe". Your party hasn't set foot on half the island they've crossed, and that's ignoring the fact L33tz4n doesn't have feet. Anyway, switching control to L33tz4n: Five hours and four bottles of Jolt (courtesy of invisible gremlins) later, you finally finish decrypting Pandora's Harddrive. Surprisingly, the entire thing was just one encrypted sentence: "The Sphere of Sky Sees the Truth". Considering this a serious waste of time, you pack up your belongings and begin to head out of the cave, only to remember you don't have a light. Quite annoying. Return to internet cafe entrance.
Place hand on left side of the wall leading out. Follow wall untill you exit the cave. Go: Volcano Go: Pool And Radium...you know exactly my request. Don't lie for derby, just admit it.

Aww, but using the Right wall would be so much more fun! Regardless, you follow the wall out of the cave. Several times you think you stubbed your toe, only to remember you don't have toes. Once outside it takes a moment for your eyes to adjust to the light. A jungle of the tall, weed-like plants towers around you, obscuring your view of your desired direction. |

Of course, dispelling them doesn't even go with Pandora reaching for a silvery object, which is presumably the combination thing. (Reaching? If she forgot the combination, wouldn't that mean she had already reached it?) So let's assume that Radium has edited Pandora's story to be dispelling instead of a combination. In that case, the pool must have been new, and Pandora forgot about it being rabid while testing the chains. And that leads us to the conclusion that this is not Pandora at all, but some random skeleton who happens to be trapped by enchanted chains. Either that, or Uberbob's memory of Araches' story is inaccurate. Or using a combination lock counts as dispelling for some strange reason. Meanwhile, the party shouldn't be in any danger. The chains seem to be there for the sole purpose of holding the captive(s) underwater long enough to drown them, as none of the skeleton's bones are broken. About the only problem is that they're stuck. And so, Fawriel should try eating some noberries. |
Sep 4, 2003, 03:32 AM | |
You're making two assumtions there. First, you don't know what the puzzle was; it could very well be to dispell the chains. Second, you're assuming the pool was always rabid. As for the forgotten S... I'm too lazy to go fix that so let's say she had a swimming pool installer put the chains in. And we've already learned that the silver object is her car keys. Pandora dropped her keys in the pool, dived in to get them, the chains got her, and she couldn't remember how to cast "dispell".
And Fawriel can not eat a noberry because his arms are tied down. As are Uberbob's. |

Also, if you were drowning due to being trapped by enchanted chains, would you still be trying to get your car keys, or trying to get the chains off of you? I'd say the second, unless the car keys have some special use in the situation, and seeing as magic in this world doesn't seem to need any components... (though studying for dark arts seems to) But I'll admit I was assuming the pool was always rabid, due to not being able to envision some animal biting a pool. (Uberbob's memory of what Araches said is still not what Araches said) |

You can not reach the Crystal due to the chains, but that does not stop you from looking at the sky. Now, why did you do that? You know you're just provoking me... and look, a storm appears to be brewing. |
