..together? How would that work? We'd have to keep sending it around from person to person......... well, actually, that COULD work.....

Yeah, so we don't have ONE person with the same idea's of levelmaking working on it! It could be a very very cool level, assuming everyone has a different levelmaking style... Oeh, oeh! PICK ME TOO!

It does sound interesting... but it would also require a lot of organisation. Like, there are things that have to be done besides the layer 4 stuff ( music, what kind of background to use, leveltype... )... and one month is a little much for an example level. Hrm.

Well, it doesn't have to be an ex level then. And Project Forward wasn't all that organised, yet it worked.

Well, we could say that the 1st person in our little project will decide the size of the level, and the background matching with those (Layer 6-8). Layer 5 is best to be used for the level creating, since many JCS'ers use this for other purposes than background eyecandy. Anyway, Unknown Rabbit should start the 'Let's make a level' thread, and arrange an order of creators. Looking forward to it.

I've organised a few of those coop levels before, and I'd say you REALLY need to design the larger flow before starting on the level. You can add the smaller platforms later but if you skip flow you'll end up with levels that do not make much sense, because some people add the weirdest stuff.

Wether to have another LMAT would depend on participation (I'm saying this even though I haven't done much for this one).. maybe you would get more participation after a one month break.

It doesn't neccessarily have to be an example level.. we could just do a normal level out of Kansas and leave the example level work to Violet/Dx.

Still allowed to contribute things if the things were forgotten? :-/

As in, tiles that logically belong in the tileset because the tiles to go with it were already there, and which, when missing, make a part of the tileset (the BLUE mechanic things) less functional/useful.

If the tileset is uploaded to J2O, it will be under an LMAT account and I will request anyone who posted tiles not to review rate it.

Still thinking about "lmal" and stuff. Will decide nightish.

I still vote for Kansas. It's the kind of name that will attract people's attention yet still describe the core idea of the tileset, rather then corrupted borgling castle wasteland or whatever the current idea is.

Kansas suits the tilest by not suiting it, for the tileset does not suit itself! It's kind of like Zen, or at least what ignorant people often regard as Zen!

We could each pick a completely random letter and make a word with those letters

Only people who contributed tiles would choose letters

Okay, so here is what I'm thinking.

I have no interest in heading an example level project. In any case, we don't have a compiled tileset to work with. When there actually is a .j2t file, I give Cooba full reign over the creation of an example level: be it assigned; a group project; or whatever.

In the meantime, someone or a group of someones should look into organizing, palettizing, masking and compiling the tileset. I recommend anyone interested in this should post here and then contact the others who posted, so they can figure out what they want to do. A simple alternative would be to have every interested party perform all the compilation stuff themselves and then have everyone compare their finished .j2t files, but that doesn't sound as nice. All this is, of course, assuming more than one person would be interested in this kind of work. At this time I do not plan to be involved.

I approve of "Kansas". It's like Longhorn. Everyone's used to calling it that, so why change it?

Four people have said they would like another LMAT for September, so I guess I'll go draw some stuff to start you people off now. Quist's suggestion of a one month break is understood and makes sense, but I think I'll try two months in a row and see if people get tired of it or anything.

I will make it when I'll finish the palette but I need the final arrangation of tiles first. I'm too lazy to take colors from all these pieces.

*mutters something*

Why didn't anyone reply anymore? I didn't actually agree to rearrange the tiles yet.... not even Nobody replied to my query. *sigh*
Well, I wasn't sure whether you were waiting for me or anything, but as I said, I don't want this to die.
So I did my ( bad ) job.

I did my best to move the most used tiles up and the least used down and to give the whole thing a reasonable structure, but some of the tiles were just too darn entangled.....
I also took the freedom to reduce the amount of color in the water to 24...
And I fixed a mistake in one of FQuist's ( I think ) contributions.... and, well, I ignored his "Kansas" map. ...come on, that thing was useless.

So... who's next?

I can get working on the mask, but we still need someone to do the pallet.

Oh, and according to the polls, the offical name is Kansas.

JSZ or Spotty, you said youd do the pallet, right? It would be nice if we had three versions of the pallet, normal, acid and lava.
