sorry, this is kind of a lame thread. I've been in kind of a rut, and I haven't really been finishing the things I start.
So here's another image to kind of make up for it... And... This one isn't finished either. |

That is an unusual 3D landscape. Over in the background, by the fountains, is that a floating tunnel into the mountain? How does it connect to the ground? Are the fountains even connected to anything? The tree is ugly.
The tileset is different. You have a very interesting style of planning/redoing things. |

I quote from the Animation:Master box: "Say no to polygons!". Try to make your 3d landscapes looks less like they were made with legos, kay? =P

LOL, prety crappy, huh? Maybe I'll get it finished some day and see what you guys think. The place where the Tocas are standing is prety smoothed out, but I haven't quite given good atention to the other areas yet. GameStudio isn't the best at landscapes. Using geometry to make a lanscape sucks anyways (my standard edition of gamestudio doesn't support terrain). I'm thinking about switching game engines though. There's one called Torque that is much higher quality, and I can afford it, too .
Not to say that the blame is completely on the engine, really. The GameStudio level would look much better if I wasn't slacking off. PS: Bjarni found the secret video. Bjarni gets a gold star. Don't you wish you were Bjarni? Last edited by Hare; Mar 5, 2004 at 11:13 AM. |

I've got a lot of unfinished stuff though. And I can see how that could be frusterating. Like that Toca Tileset for example. I know a few people have been waiting a long time for that one. Then there's Jazzer X, which has almost been sitting on the shelf. I guess its partially due to my fear that they may turn out to be crap.... but they kind of look like crap if they aren't finished anyways. That, and I'm not sure what direction I want to go with them... Well, I'm sure about some of the basics, just not the details. But even Disney doesn't see the big picture of how a movie will turn out, in the early stages. I guess I'm afraid the details will be crap if I don't try to take them into consideration while laying the foundation, but if I'm supposed to be a good artist like I believe I am, then I should't wory. And when I do make mistakes, its not like they are permanent, and they are good oppritunities to learn.
Sorry for making you guys wait so long for some of my stuff. |

There're generally two ways to go about making things: laying out all the basics first and gradually improving it as a whole, or starting from a random point, writing and perfecting everything as you come to it. The first method leads to the dreaded "beta versions". The second method leads to the dreaded "demo versions". But as long as you stick to it, they both become "full versions".
