Know the level. Don’t go into a level you haven’t played and expect to win the first time.

Use every weapon to it’s full potential:
BLASTER
Trust sidearm. Never leave home without it. If powered up and with fastfire, it’s a potentially lethal weapon. Useful in situations with lots of people.
BOUNCER
Useful in the right situations. Like the blaster, fastfire will multiply it’s killing capabilities. Bounce it down corridors, etc. Powerup is less useful, even though it causes more damage, as it doesn’t go as far.
TOASTER
The ultimate melee weapon. fastfire will allow you to literally microwave competition. Powerups will just make it more deadly. Just jump and spray. Doesn’t work underwater.
FREEZEER (ALSO KNOWN AS ICER OR FREEZE GUN OR ICE)
Kinda useless except in defence. In CTF, depending on the level design, people can stop you from reaching the flag by freezng then blasting. Powerup just makes it easier to hit.
RF MISSILES (SLANG: RFs)
Mostly useless without powerups. It has a large backblast and doesn’t use fastfire. It only really comes in hand during a small, packed level. Powered up, it can cause serious damage: They can’t really dodge three missiles, can they.
SEEKER MISSILES (SLANG: SEEKERS)
The ultimate multiplayer weapon. Just shoot. And shoot. And shoot. They will home in like dogs on a burger. Powered up, they are slightly slower, but are indefinately more useful. Can be used to detter pursuers. Has a short range though: Just keep moving.
TNT
Useless really. The JJ1 version it was spawned from was alot better. TNT can be used in small spaces, to destroy trigger scenery quickly, to defend areas and dislodge pursuit. Otherwise pretty much useless. (NOTE: TNT powerup can be destroyed and collected only by TNT. Be aware that it’s invisible).
PEPPER SPRAY
Quite useless. Has a long range and can be usefull in hitting those who camp with seekers. Powered up it is more useful, but no one really uses it anyway.
SPARKLER (AKA ELECTRO-BLASTER)
It is a super blaster. Goes through most walls, is quite effective in scaring newbies and as an added bonus, it makes this look good. The downside is its range, which is quite limited compared to the blaster.

SHIELDS:
FLAME/FIRE SHIELD
Ah yeah! Lets cook some goose! Or is it rabbit…the flame shield is the melee shield that really scares people: It works underwater. The toaster doesn’t. And it looks awesome in 16 bit colour. Enough said.
BUBBLE/WATER SHIELD
It looks cooool. Mmm. Translucent bubbles. They are a little hard to hit people with, but they get the job done. Probably the worst shield, but still effective in close up situations.
LIGHTNING SHIELD
Essentially the flame shield that’s coloured green.
LASER SHIELD
Oh, if only the event worked! The laser shield looks awesome and does 2 hearts damage. (In SP it canes!) Oh if only the event worked.

TECHNIQUES:
WALL CLIMBING
Some levels aren’t well made and have gaps in the wall masks. Use this to climb up walls that are otherwise unclimbable. Or, use Rfs…
RF WALL CLIMBING
Use powered up RFs to fire at a wall from point blank. The blast will knock you up and back, allowing you to repeat it, thus climbing the wall.
LONG DISTANCE JUMPING
JAZZ AND LORI
Use the run lock and helicopter after an upercut.
SPAZ
Use run lock and fly kick then double jump.
TAILING PEOPLE
Anticipate their movements and use a good weapon (sparkler, blaster, bouncers and seekers are best) to run them down.
FLAG RUNS
Try to figure out the closest and easiest path to navigate between flags and make a run.

You don’t want the laser sheild to work!!

A. Too cheap!
B. No fun if everyone just runs around killin’ each other.
C. Obviously wasn’t intended for multiplayer, and if hacked to use it, it often/almost always crashes the server’s JJ2, timing everyone out.

Iv never seen that!

Waz on April 14, 2003 04:00

Actually, for tailing people you shouldn’t use seekers, since you run faster than they can track.

Saphir on October 23, 2003 04:00

I’ve never played online (I just can’t get it work what am I doing wrong whatamIdoingwrong?) but I still have some weapon tricks to advise. They work at split screen.

BOUNCER:
If you run at a wall and shoot, the bouncer can go through walls. The unupgraded can go through two tiles and the upgraded at least two. Discowered this when I played on my “Battle of Crystals”.

RF:
If someone is evil and protects an area by shooting forward so you can’t get near, run, shoot and stop. The RF should go away RF (really fast) and a lenght of about 40 tiles.

PEPPER SPRAY:
Shoot forward and then up. It goes diagonally upwards. Try and see if you can use this.

FREEZER:
If you haven’t got any upgraded guns, shoot your opponent with this and sidekick/stomp!

TOASTER:
Really useful, the upgraded even more so. Use the “run, shoot& stop” and the fire will spread, fly a long way and, being extremely hard to avoid, do damage to the opponent.

SEEKERS:
A well known strategy: Run, and when you are near your opponent, shoot. Then jump, and when you are abowe your opponent, shoot. When you land, shoot. There is only one good way to stop this three-sides attack: the stomp shield.
