It’s finally here! or is it? Well I decided to release the current version of my new tileset, Astrolumina! What does this mean? Well, it means that I will continue the tileset later, probably after I release the Race Tournament Pack. Yes, this tileset was also created using Paint. I guess, before I make a third, I’ll get some better art program. (Any suggestions on free ones from the net, anybody?). Well, the included text file will explain everything. Also, I am working on another level using the Astrolumina-reverse tileset, which will be released later. Why? Because I want it to get it’s own rating. Also, the level included is an example level, but it is also it’s own level. So review it separately, if you could. Just give it a little of your review, please. Well, that’s about it. Read the readme. EDIT : There is an updated version of this tileset included with my CTF level, Nebula Alpha. Download it.
This is a pretty cool tileset, well, for using paint. Anyway, the tileset isn’t bad for any program used. I’m sure a lot will be waiting for the full thing.
Great job.
Nice job, though I have not checked out the level yet…..But its very nice,
and I’m anxiously (Spelling?) awaiting the full thing.
Again, very nice
(first and foremost note: Why did you include the stuff in a different dir? I hate extracting levels just to get a new folder. Don’t do that.)
Not a bad tileset, considering it was made in Paint. (use PSP next time, it rocks. :-) The BG sort of looks repetitive and the example level is confusing. I liked the 3d look in the tileset though. Also the background ships look nifty.
In conclusion: A level/tileset worthy of your download.
It extracts in a different directory? I didn’t know that! How do I fix this? That must be annoying!
It didn’t for me!
"Astrolumina" is a very cool space tileset by "Another Jazz 2 Fan". It includes all kinds of useful tiles from simple block structures to tubes, arrows etc. There is a nice textured background for layer 8, a set of letters and even a classic specaship. Everything has a neat 3D-ish look and really creates a "spacey" atmosphere. To demonstrate those effects, the author included a simple (battle) level, which is a bit boring though.
Apart from that, you’ll find two version of the tileset in the ZiP: one has different, "reversed" colours, whatever that means :-)
The only questionable ideas/problems with "Astrolumina" are…1.) all the unused and blabla-test tiles. 2.) the palette tiles!
But to sum it up, "Astrolumina" is a very good tileset that everyone should DOWNLOAD iMMEDIATELY (low eight points)!
P.S.:
Folder problem: depends on how you set up WinZip. And guys, PLEASE don’t use this as a chatboard. You can EDIT reviews to make comments etc.. As far as i know, you can also RE-UPLOAD/fix your upload if anything is wrong.
Wow, Aiko gives high points. I wish he’d do that with my sets ;).
But about the set, It looks ok for a paint set. The example level looks very cool. But Im not going to rate that because it ain’t in the Multiple type group. (Take my revenge BAHAHAhah…)
Nice tileset, it has enough variation and the example has all nececary things in it.
For actual battle the example level is a bit too big (and with too little ammo)…
Doing great! More 3d tiles are needed tho, and the 2d tiles don’t always mix right with the 3d ones. The idea is great, and deserves more score because you wrote this in paint (I know how annoying it can be…)
its a great tileset. the scroling text is a cool idea.
Argh! It extracted to a different dir! >=(
It’s a good tileset tho
