Description

READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING

This is NOT a completed pack. It is only 4 levels. The project was given up because I don’t have enough spared time to work on it, and would rather want to focus on my WC3 mod.
Otherwise, go ahead, download, and enjoy.

For lack of better things to do, I’m going to review this.

Boring Surprise:
The main thing I liked about this level was how the robot boss battle was made harder. I couldn’t actually just keep stomping the robot without getting harmed like in most battles with it because of the schwarzenguard, so that’s definately a plus. Otherwise, it is a rather boring surprise ;d.

Puzzled Breakfast:
I like this level. Most of the challenges come from relatively easy but still fun puzzles and platform/vine hopping over hurt events. The music gave this level a good atmosphere imho. I hope you fixed the bug with the triggers and the save point in this level (I didn’t test if you did) because that could’ve screwed up the level if it was still there. Otherwise, the placement of stuff was good and the puzzles were fun (the “Good Job” or “Excellent Work” text after you complete a puzzle is also good since it congratulates the person and makes them want to keep playing). The level wasn’t too long, but was still fun.

Forbidden Move
The water rising part in the very beginning of the level is cool. The eyecandy in this level was pretty similar to the last level’s except this just uses the night version of carrotus. A lot of the enemies were placed in difficult areas where you usually get hurt, so the level was more difficult and a bit more annoying then last level. 122,25 in jj2 – spaz can just double jump onto the cliff while jazz cant reach it with his uppercut. Otherwise, this was just a normal level.

Trouble Underneath
Aahh carrotus AGAIN. Thankfully, this is only a boss level, and the arena for the boss is creatively made. So yay.

TDI2_04 or something crashes me because I dont have it, probably because moonblaze didnt make it and this is only a demo.

Ratings: (Only doing it for the two non-boss levels)
Puzzled Breakfast:
Layout/Gameplay: 8.7 (fun puzzles)
Eyecandy: 8 (just basic eyecandy)
Placement of Stuff: 8.2
Originality/Fun Factor: 8.7
Overall (not average): 8.5
Rating: 8.42 ~ 8.4

Forbidden Move:
Layout/Gameplay: 7.7
Eyecandy: 7.5
Placement of Stuff: 7.3
Originality/Fun Factor: 7.9
Overall (not an average): 7.7
Final Rating: 7.62 ~ 7.6

+0.2 for the boss levels, which makes the rating (7.6 + 8.4 /2) 8 + 0.2 = 8.2. Too bad the pack is unfinished.

This was quite good, yeah..

The pack was playable, mostly for Spaz (imo), but a good placement of morphs made it easy to play with your favourite character and complete the puzzles.
The puzzles were nice, too easy though.. I had a bit trouble with one of them, but overall they were original, and I had to think a bit before I could complete them.
The placement of the items was quite good too, though there were too much ammo.
The secrets were nice hidden, I only found 2 or 3 in each level, good balancing in the pickups at them.
The eyecandy was really nice, it was obvious that you had worked alot on it, and you did a good job. ;)
The toughness of the levels was balanced in a very good way.. I played it on Medium, and I had a bit trouble (well, I’m not quite the pro jj2 gamer) :P .. I bet it would take me longer to complete it on Hard, and Easy would be … easy ;)
So, overall I think it deserves a 9, a bit bugs in the eyecandy (I actually don’t expect that anyone would make a level without any bugs with this tileset). Great storyline, it was really worth the download – 9 and a Download Recommended ;)

After reviewing the horrible sad The Sad Beach, I decided to continue my night of reviews with TDI 2.As awesome as this ‘pack’ is, I am only reviewing this so I can get the bad taste The Sad Beach left in my mouth metaphoricly
. I am not thanking the author for a good level pack I am jusy sharing my thoughts on it. After that tiny rant on to the review.
Story- 7/10
A cliched tale of Devan( a cliched enemy) going to a Forbidden Zone (a cliched area… maybe I just watch too many shows on TV). As Jazz/Spaz you must go stop Devan(cliched plot point). So I give you a 7 for an average/cliched story.
Eyecandy-8/10
Nothing to amazing, however the scene where Devan tells Bolly to stop you as his gang of Tuf Turtles and a superbot continue forward was a nice touch.
Gameplay-9/10
This is a Mission-based puzzled-filled romp through Carrotus. However it felt a bit to spaz based.
And a few puzzles felt cliched. For example, hunting down crates to open a path felt like a modification to Hocus Pocus, and I’ve played many a game with a difficult Race the Liquid! scenario.
Placement-9/10
My only gripe is that I couldn’t find a Morph box near the race the water puzzle, which was done all to easily as Spaz, yet very difficult with Jazz.
Difficulty-10/10
I had a hard time here, adjusting from Alien Hominid’s(ps2/GCN game) All Action No Puzzle gameplay to TDI 2’s Puzzle/Action Mix took a long time, but other than that the Puzzle’s difficulty comes from about 2 or 3 puzzles, the rest comes from battling the many Monkeys while doing a puzzle.
After I got used to it, the difficulty felt pretty smooth. The only difference I saw on Easy was a sheild for the Superbot fight, most of the challenge I got from playing it on normal remained intact.
Average-8.6
Final score-8.6

To start:
A good episode with four levels: two boss-levels and two puzzle-levels.

Boss-levels:
Level 1 and 4 are Boss-levels. Level 1 against the robot of Devan, level 4 against Bolly, also a robot. It is hampered in both levels. In level 1 by the Tuf Boss and in level 4 with a lot of spikes.

Puzzle-levels:
Level 2 and 3 are Puzzle-levels.
It are nerve-racking puzzles with Big Rocks. Sometimes you must there on or other manner towers there of builds of other Big Rocks. Or you must push them concerning spikes gone, what only possible is if you freeze him with your Freezer Ammo.
I have also discovered something: if you freeze a Big Rock and you pushes it away, it slips away. In level 3 there are also puzzles present with water. Generally you must be then above, before the water on its highest state. In fact a type race.

Not complete:
Unfortunately this episode is not complete.

Conclusion:
Apart from the fact that the episode is not complete, this is still a very well episode. For truth puzzle-fans is this to my idea as well as Tomb Rabbit an episode of their dreams

Mark:
Download recommendation: YES!
