So I got bored last night, and I decided to make something festive to release on the holidays… This is a remix (sort of) of Holidaius. Completely resampled, rearranged, and even has a few new parts. It’s kind of a rush job, so it’s not great. Didn’t really undergo much testing. But it’s better than nothing, right?
ALSO, THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT… SO READ IT!!
This won’t play right in JJ2. It’ll sound awful. I used effects and instrument properties that JJ2 doesn’t support, so listen to this with XMPlay, Modplug, or even Winamp if you must. Just not JJ2, because it’s not gonna sound good… in fact, I’m not sure if it’ll even play at all in JJ2, I haven’t tested it.
Hope you like this. Please review it, J2O’s getting really lousy with reviews, nobody writes them anymore. I don’t care how elaborate you are, I’d just really appreciate suggestions on improvement or just comments saying what you like in the song because I make music a lot (with or without Modplug) and I want to get better.
EDIT (12/28/05): I made a JJ2 compatible version of this song, if you want to use it in your level, download it here: http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/downloads/info.php?levelID=3967
Rock mixed with Xmas. Good idea! You used all the jingle bell tones. And more mixed up with some drums, snares! Now, when I writing this rewiew, it’s not christmas, but I got again Xmas mood!
Good Work! You get a 7.5.

Good music! :D
First glance: Another remix by Lark. Don’t see many of these too often. But this mix, just around holiday time, makes a great addition to your holiday mix CD.
Tempo/beat: Very well done. Kept faithful to the original song, while adding it’s own charm and even a new verse. Only part I don’t like is the end, where the jingle bells suggest a higher tempo than the song really is, and it kinda throws me off. 9/10.
Instruments: All high quality samples used wonderfully. If you look at the samples, you’ll see samples like glass breaking and a Chinese cymbal. Very well put together. 9/10.
Overall composition: Excellent. Polish it up and submit this to OCremix, they just might accept it. It’s a damn shame it doesn’t work in JJ2, this would be excellent for a battle level. 9/10.
(9 + 9 + 9) รท 3 = 9. Download recommendation twice over.
Advice: Keep on rockin’, Lark. This is excellent. Also, see if you can’t make this JJ2-compatible.
Everyone find a way to make this your ringtone for yuor cellphone even if it’s not christmas.
Why? Because when you answer your phone with this as your ringtone, you didn’t just answer your phone:
You answered your phone AND ROCKED TO THE MAX.
That is all.
Download now.
Review time ;D (I haven’t reviewed in forever)
Okay, let’s start off seeing how this compares to what its remixing (Xmas1). Listening through it, all the patterns from the original are in the remix (and all have been made to sound better), and LRK has also expanded the song with more good sounding patterns to make it play even longer. In conclusion, he stuck pretty close to the original melody of the song and you can find what patterns are where pretty easily.
As for how the song plays, it plays really well. The instruments go together well and make the song a pleasure to listen to, even if you didn’t like the original Xmas1. Percussion sounds really nice, and guitar is great too.
Finally, you can tell this is a quality song when you look at it (in ModTracker, for example). LRK made this very well and didn’t just stick in random notes in places, and it shows. It’s a very good remix, and definately deserves a download and a few listens. Great job on creating an awesome tune!
