Description

WARNING: This utility has been rendered obsolete by JJ2+.

NeoAntiCrash, or NeoAC, is intended to help prevent your JJ2 server from crashing due to malicious attacks. This is an early release, so it is not very pretty or flexible, but so long as it works it’s better than nothing. NeoAC was developed using code originally created by Neobeo, so many thanks to him. Note: this ONLY works with JJ2 version 1.23. I hope to get some good feedback on how to improve this, although honestly I don’t have all that much time to work on it.

Version 1.1:
  • Fixed a problem where the game would freeze on a particular type of malformed chat packet.
  • Supposedly added support for Windows 95/98/Me, but I haven’t tested it yet.
Version 1.2:
  • Improved recognition of fake chat.
  • Better checking for garbage packets.
  • Added an automatic block for hacking IPs. The block will remain in effect until you restart NeoAC.
  • Possible but untested protection from laser crashes.
Version 1.3
  • Weapon regeneration (respawn) is now built-in.
  • NeoAC now displays output in the game window.
Version 1.4
  • Console output is now available for Windows version 95/98/Me.
Version 1.5
  • Fixed NeoAC so that it does not break teamchat.
Version 1.6
  • Possible fixes/improvements when dealing with the local player.
  • Removed the [NeoAC] messages that were showing in the game.
  • NeoAC now searches for a window with the DDWndClass class name if it cannot find Jazz2.exe running (in case the executable was renamed).

I’d like to see a fully working filter like this done with a cool GUI one day. This isn’t even close to what I had in mind, but its a start ;P Gj on the app. First of its kind. I haven’t tested it yet, but I’ve seen it in action before. It sort of creates the same atmosphere when J2M (console) was first tested in AB7 server.

A GUI will definitely come eventually. I wanted to get the core functionality working first though, because that part is more difficult than making a GUI for it.

I found the Neoac is a great program because it stops unwanted hacks to your server. Although there is now prog. that bypass neoac and ultimately crash servers ;(…If I am correct the crashing prog. is asd2…it would help if you could make a better version of this prog. to stop asd 2 ;P

I am giving this a 7.

[Rating (7) clearance. You need to give more support for the rating and saying “I am giving this a #” is not enough. ~Cooba]
