This is just a Diamondus arrangement I made in several days a little over a week ago, and I decided to upload it finally. Please read the whole description before you listen to this, you may appreciate the song more if you do.
Ok, well basically this song is experimental. One of the main differences that sets video game music apart from other music is that in video game music, there are multiple parts that generally attempt to stick out on their own. The drums may play a certain, memorable groove throughout the song, and the bass may have it’s own part that stands out out. Ultimately, the lead won’t neccesarilly be the only thing, or the main thing, rather, that you focus your attention on.
In other music, mainly rock (which this song attempted to follow), it’s almost the opposite. Everything attempts to blend in with the lead. The bass may be more of a support instrument rather than it’s own melodic part that. The drums won’t neccesarilly stick out as much outside of fills unless you go out of your way to listen to them.
My attempt with this song was to make it sound as far from video game music as possible while still making it sound like Diamondus and using all those cool sounding synths. Personally I like how it came out, although whether or not you feel the same should really depend on your tastes in music. My influences ranged from a variety of bands, mainly Angels & Airwaves. The drums were heavilly influenced by Travis Barker of Blink-182 as well.
So please rate this and be as harsh as you want, let me know if you like it, and what I should do to change it in the future. Thanks.
Finally, please play this in Modplug, I’m not sure if it will work in Winamp, and I’m sure it won’t work if you try it in JJ2.
Good music Labratkid! :-)
NOTE: It takes a while to learn how to use ModPlug. 3 years later, I now make funk tunes.
Anyways, to the review:
Its basically the JJ1 version of Diamondus slapped together with the JJ2 version, mixed together and rearranged. It sounds much more nature-like with the sound effects and guitars and the rest of the samples sort of flow along with the feeling. I like how the song constantly changes key and changes the tune from JJ1 to JJ2 again and again.
However, the tune is just borrowed from the origional Diamondus songs. The song would sound better and interesting if the tune was changed so that it still sounded like Diamondus, but the tune would be a tiny bit different (Like Dr Eggman did with his Elettrotubo song). The same goes for the bass aswell.
GOOD POINTS:
More Nature-like version of Diamondus
Samples flow along with each other
Changes key
BAD POINTS:
Tune and bass same as Diamondus
The guitar samples and the bass sometimes clash (something I didn’t mention)
RATING: 7.9
RANK: 7 Good

FIRST GLANCE: Another remix by accomplished remixer and legendary member Lark. Wonderfully done.
DETAILS: The opening gives us leaves rustling in the wind and birds chirping. Soon, a guiter strums in a basic tune. The xylophone kicks in, sounding off the melody of Diamondus. This sounds like it belongs in Sims 2, either that or a band playing in Central Park. The song has a happy feeling to it, and you could get carried away from what you are doing to listening to this. Truly wonderful. Before you know it, the song ends, and… well, you’ll have to hear it. ;)
I give this an 8.5 out of 10, and a high Download Recommendation. You NEED this song in your WinAmp or XMPlay playlist.
it sounds all good to me…and i like the funny ending
YaY, Lark! And his best JJ remix!
Everything sounds so peacy, so happy, so free… I think I don’t have to mention super sample choice, lark-quality beat with fantastic transitions, cool harmonic background or Lark’s sense for a detail (the bird whistling is FANTASTIC, and the end couldn’t be better). True, Lark didn’t try to make some outstanding original melodies, but for now, it doesn’t mind ;) It could be a bit longer too… ;)
Everytime I listen to this tune, it makes me happy (which is great especially because I am not much in the rock). Again and again. I don’t know how Lark managed to do this, but it works. I can be in any deppression, this makes my smile like Lily Allen’s new hit.
I don’t have much to tell about this jewel, just… Download it. Now!
Darn, GO!
To Spaz18: Try ModPlug Player, it can be downloaded from www.modplug.com, it’s easy to use and it sounds very, very well.
I’ll very very highly recommend everybody to download this! The xylophone is really good idea, and the birds too, so these sounds really “let in to diamondus”! The swapping between JJ1-2 is um…. is cool! The ending is funny, but you can hear the background noise when Jazz says “Hey!” and a window(or what) crashes.
When the song ends(before the funny section) the music slowly fade, what is good. I’ll give a 10, but when I give a 10, I always get a rating removal. So, you get a 9.2!
I alredy said this, but…but why not again? ;)
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION: Y E S !
(hey, this rewiew is one of my longest rewiews! – 646 characters!)
OK, I tested this in Winamp and JJ2. It works in both of these! So this music could be used in a JJ2 level. I do like this music but I dunno how to rate music so I’ll just leave it as N/A.
[While the tune works in WinAmp and JJ2, it gets distorted while being played in those. To fully experience the song’s quality, do listen to it with Modplug Tracker like the author recommends. ~Cooba]
Unfortunately, I have no idea how to use Modplug Tracker. Tried it once, just couldn’t understand it. I also tried Modplug Player but I just didn’t know how to use it.
