You might remember my “The Guy” test level I made back in March 2012, as an attempt at making a tough level to perhaps use in a test or just as a standalone.
Because AngelScript was not available back then, I had to make do with a bunch of platforms to replace the Walljump which, in hindsight, was a terrible idea.
Also had no decoration besides an overused space background and a track ripped straight from Super Meat Boy.
Now that scripting is possible in JJ2+ and I’ve slapped myself in the face thoroughly for uploading this negatively rated level almost three years ago, I’ve given it a few changes to remove most of the mistakes I made back then and decorated it a little.
Now hopefully a proper test utilising the capabilities of the Walljumping script will be made at some stage. Already been planning such a thing with PurpleJazz lately, although nothing is set in stone just yet.
Side-note: Frankly, I no longer care if this gets positively or negatively rated. I just wanted to get this little idea out of my brain before it became doomed to an eternity of rotting in the back of my mind.
TL;DR Identified problems and fixed them, then repeated as necessary until they were all fixed.
With practice comes perfection.
Look at my early levels. Heck, look at ANYBODY’S early levels. Nobody starts out with Featured Download material. They have to work at it in order to improve.
Don’t give up. Just keep hackin’ at it.
Eat your lima beans, Johnny.
