Description

The latest adventure in the Foo Single Player universe, Boys’ Love 18+ tells an original story about Jazz Jokerabbit’s attempt to make Fooruman his valentine. Collect coins to exit each castle, collect treasures to get more health, shoot lots of enemies, solve significantly more puzzles than in most JJ2 levels.

This episode is a level-by-level parody (except for level 5) of Holiday Hare ’17. Because HH17 was a collaboration, do not expect all levels here to play the same way.

As a way to reduce the frustration associated with dying, this episode makes several reforms compared to FSP: Rent Collection. Castles contain checkpoints now, which save the current states of all opened locks/solved puzzles/etc., and you can even use individual checkpoints multiple times while exploring. Coins and keys remain collected even when you die, as do treasures if you’re playing in Easy or Normal. Enemies also do not respawn when you die. Finally, you have unlimited lives. (For a gameplay style somewhat more reminiscent of FSP: Rent Collection, playing in Hard or Turbo reduces the number of ammo pickups and removes your ability to run, in addition to its usual effect of increasing the number of enemies and other obstacles.)

Featured

Pros:
+ so far the only thing to be made by Violet this month
+ not sure if I helped write the ferris wheel code but I probably did
+ JJ to the power of an imaginary number
+ no tilebugs regarding Eva’s feet
+ animal husbandry and retention
+ practically no packet loss
+ This is not a test.
+ progressive non-binary enum Gender { Male, Female, Random }
+ edit: the story premise is the second gayest internet ever
+ edit: not a zero think, although by some that could be seen as a disadvantage

Cons:
- horrible
- deviates from the standard
- probably generates a security hole Someone Else will have to fix
- multiple ways to trafton
- the buildings are upside down imo
- only enemies experience orgasms
- now I can’t find my Nintendo Switch anywhere
- idling counter-intuitively not a valid strategy against the first boss

Where do I start, this pack is my favorite pack so far.
Here are my notes:

+The storyline is well done, with the levels having many surprises.

+The dialogues are hilarious and very well written. The dialogues and the storyline alone make the levels fun enough and worth playing .

+The levels, dialogues , names and the pack as a whole contain many genius references. You may find ones even in the most meticulous places.

+Many secret areas throughout the pack.

+Awesome new enemies, some of them are funny (I ROFL whenever I see the fat chick) and great bosses.

+Intriguing puzzles, you often have to play with switches, platforms and use physics to your favor, and sometimes think outside the box.

+AMAZING physics! Sometimes you will even wonder if this is JJ2.

+Some of the levels are Metroidvania styled.

+Beautiful looking levels and eyecandy.

+Cool score and enemy killing system.

+Unlike most SP levels, you have infinite lives here, and the enemies you defeated do not come back after death, making it more convenient to go back and forth. This favors less skilled players, the more you retry a certain part, the more you kill, the more it gets easier, the only price you pay is time.

+The levels have unique design, you don’t just stomp enemies and destroy trigger crates.

+Generally speaking, if you find yourself stuck anywhere, try looking around for any passages that you might have missed, or objects/items that you can use, play with the switches/platforms. Trust me, you will eventually always figure out a way :)

+Level 4 is a MASTERPIECE. (Make sure you dedicate at least 2 hours for it, or less… depending on how much you’re better than me I guess)

I don’t have any complaints, with all the eminent effort and details that went to this, I personally don’t see why I would rate it less than 10.

This level pack is fantastic and probably one of the best made in a long time. There’s a lot of variety between the different levels, with my favourite being the fourth level (I love Metroidvanias). I thought the gravity reversing balloon was a clever idea, and the raptor claw puts an interesting twist on the physics of JJ2. The new enemies are all really cool, and the restriction on special moves adds an extra bit of challenge.

I had a very good time with this pack and it was actually the first I was able to (mostly) fairly beat. This probably had something to do with having infinite lives. And I only missed some gems on two (three?) levels.

The pack is a great showcase of what can be done with JJ2+ and AngelScript (much like Violet’s earlier Ozymandius) and I would highly recommend everyone to download and play this pack (especially if you haven’t played JJ2 in a long while like me). I look forward to more levels and packs like this (from Violet and other people).

“A messy masterpiece” is the best way to describe it. 10/10, I enjoyed the heck out of this. Also, Violet should make his own video game someday.

EDIT: I didn’t expect a meme SP pack to bring me on the verge of tears.

I loved every level of it (no pun intended)! It was already awesome to see all the references of other JJ2 players and levels which were executed well. However the way the levels managed to keep a very humoristic/parodic atmosphere through the episode while keeping up to top-notch visual- and gameplay-quality impresses me more than anything.

Like I said in my earlier reviews I'm a huge fan of VioletCLM's amazing work. To me he(?) is a real godfather in JJ2+ level building and introducing mind blowing new features. This episode is a true feat to that fact.

It consists of seven levels and a final boss stage. The playthrough of these stages is quite similar to Threed Realms I reviewed before: you need to collect the coins in the level in order to exit. All levels are blessed with amazing eyecandy and – as many VioletCLM levels do – mind blowing features which make you forget this is still JJ2.
The first two levels were a fair play to me. Not too hard, but not to easy either, although I couldn't finish them 100% (with coins AND treasure). The third level however was quite a challenge already. I couldn't finish it off without using cheat codes, since my JJ2 playing is not that great… even after over 25 years of practice. Levels 5, 6 and 7 too have points I couldn't pass by using cheat codes. And the final boss, even after nine months of trying… no way that I could beat it without cheat codes. I have played enough of it though so I've seen everything of these stages, including the sub bosses that pop up on certain levels and the many many amazing puzzles and challenges you've got to solve. And did I mention the funny dialogues and the unique attack system? Go have a check yourself!
I won't take level 4 into account for this review, because I simply can't get through! I get lost all the time and there are no possibilities to save if you want to take a break or finally go to bed after collecting only a handful of coins after a full day of playing. I postponed my review for this upload quite some time, since I've finished all of this episode APART from level 4. Now, after months of trying I finally decided to do my review anyways.

In all I have to admit that this episode, even though is technically amazing, is too hard for me to master. Which is a serious con for the players that don't have that much JJ2 playing skills like myself. That means one important thing for the rating: while all other users rated this upload 10 I'm the one who is going to break that, which feels a little weird. On the other hand though: this pack is still amazing and for the advanced JJ2 players it's an absolute must to play. But even players not that great like me can still have a great time with this pack because you will be deeply impressed with all features the levels come with.

All in all: I'm gonna rate this upload 9 with download recommendation.
