Description

Finaly, i uploaded it. I have had this pack lying around fro a few moths, after completing it. All of these levels are based in the futureistic technological wolrd, exept maybe the Grentenus (ETs planet 2) one:P. They feature some of my “more early” level designing, so dont expect something with the quality of ‘Structured CTF’ or so. I used the tilesets Cyberspaz 2V by Dethman, ETs planet 2 by ET, Wasteland by Blade, Sirius by Agama, and Labrat and Tubelectric by Epic. Some of you may remember the Labrat level from the battle server, i posted it there as some sorta preview:P. I am glad i finaly uploaded this, so have fun with it, and rate it nice:).

You want it in one line? Here you go:

This pack is great. Download it.

And for those of you with longer attention spans, I shall delve a little deeper into this set, level by level…

First off, I’d like to note that the ammo in all of these levels is plentiful and well placed. That out of the way:

Pipe Dreams

One of my favorite levels in this pack, this level makes excellent use of Agama’s Sirius tileset. It flows nicely and the eye-candy is great. That, and I loved the music :)

Toxic Metal

My other favorite, Toxic Metal uses the Planet 2 tileset (a beautiful tileset, in it’s own special way ;) ). This level flows very nicely. And it also has a spiffy soundtrack.

Tubular Vortex

This level probably has one of the most unique uses of the Tube Electric tileset I’ve seen. It’s very artistic in it’s eye-candy, and the design is pretty good.

Scrap Metal

This level has the least eye-candy of all the levels, but that’s because the Wasteland tileset doesn’t have much eye-candy. It does make ample use of what is availible, but that means there’s a lot of pipes and such in the background. However, I consider tileset usage to be an artistic desision on the part of the level creator, and I dock no points for somewhat boring eye-candy when that’s all the tileset offers. Fortunitly, the design of this level is good, and makes good use of events and trigger crates. It also has a great, quarky techno soundtrack.

Radioactive Warfare

I didn’t like this one as much as the others, though the reason is more a matter of personal preferance than any real design issues. Tileset usage is good, music is okay. I’m just not really the grungy type, well, not most of the time :)

Evil Chemestry

This is the one level that I really just don’t care for. Tileset usage is good, and there are some interesting eye-candy elements (how did he do some of that?) but the level seemed confusing. It was hard sometimes to tell what was eye-candy and what was solid ground, partly because some elements were used across layers, and partly because a lot of the level had fake floors and walls. Actually, these elements are in most of these levels, but here they seemed used to excess, and getting around seemed (for me) an excersize in concentration, something that wouldn’t go over so well in a battle (imagine attempting to run from someone and hitting a wall where you thought an exit was…)

In spite of that one level, I have to give this pack a good rating just because the other levels are so nifty.

Which leaves me at a puzzling prospect…how many points to dock for one poor level? I’m still refining my ratings critera, so I’ll have to wing it. Without that level I would rate this at 9.5…so given the frustration (which I thought a little high) of the Evil Chemestry level, I’ll take another 1.5 points off, leaving 8, which is better than most packs out there.

WOW some levels are really cool in this level pack! BTW Cell you SHOULD spend a little more time working on your levels.
If you don’t one of the results is that tube level “FTtube1.j2l”. It really isn’t anything special. I give 8.7 for this. The music is nice. I never heard the song10.s3m remix before :)

Very cool levels. I love your eye-candy in them. All of them are fun.

The one issue is that two of them do not have single player start points, making them more difficult to test in SP, but the rest did which was cool. (But I won’t count it against you, just bringing it to your attention.)

Pipe Dreams: The music fit the level well. The eyecandy was some of the best, nearly all good points. In fact, some of the best sirius eyecandy can be seen here. Ammo placement was well, nice chocieo of pu’s, nice placement of them as well. LAyout was good as well. This was definately a good one in the pack.
Evil Chemisty: Different music could of boosted the mark, im getting quite tired of hearing the same tubelecr\tick music over and over again. Eyecandy was not the best, but was passable. Layout was ok as well. Placement was good. Not the best level in the pack, but one of the average ones. This was probably becauswe im biased towards rating levels with custom tilesets.
Radioactive Warfare: Music was strange but suited the level fine. Eyecandy wasreally food here. The layout was fine and the placemen was good too. The tileset use kinda inspired me, with all those cool tricks and all. I might as well mention that even though the eyecnady was good, it was confuisng and annoying at times and could of been a bit better. Powerup placement was ok as well.
Toxic Metal: Music fits, spring placement was good, so was the eyecandy. LAyout was great as well and some cool tricks used in this one as well. The ammo chocie wasnt that good though.
Tubular vortex: Like i said, im biased at reviewing levels with custom tileset, but some quick notes on this one. Music was different than the original tubelectic, thank god. The eyecandy was amazing, but confusing at the same time. Placement and layout wasgood. Music rocked btw
Scrap metal: The eyecandy was really good and unique here, the green backround used for slime and all those metal pipes for backround eyecandy. THe placement could of been better. There was no need for all those bomb crates and trigger crates, i have no clue why CelL inckluded them. music fits and all those stuff like that.

Worth a download reccomedation.

Hello! I decided to start reviewing!
This battle pack is really good. There were some things I didn’t like, but they weren’t too important.

PIPE DREAMS:
A good level using Agama’s Sirius tileset. The level uses the tileset really well, and the level has a tunnel-like appearance which makes it hard to use RF-missiles too well. Some people would consider that a bad point, but I don’t. Rating: 9

EVIL CHEMISTRY:
A level using the official labrat tileset. Is it just me, or is this tileset boring? Well, anyway, this was a quite good level but not as good as the others. It had a bit confusing eye-candy. Rating: 8.5

RADIOACTIVE WARFARE:
This level wasn’t my favourite, I thought it was cind of weird, but gameplay was good and that’s the thing that matters. Rating: 8.7

SCRAP METAL:
The level was good and the idea with the waterfalls was good too. The mountains in the foreground made a good add-on to the eyecandy. I didn’t understand the triggers, though. Rating:9

TUBULAR VORTEX:
I didn’t play this level really, I just stood there and stared on the eyecandy. Must be the best tubelectric level I’ve seen. Rating: 9.2

TOXIC METAL:
Somehow, this level felt very dark and weird. I don’t know what gave me that feeling. But there was enough space to move around and no disturbing places, so the level is still very good.

OVERALL:
This is not an average rating.
One of the best battle packs ever if not the best. Even those who never battle shoud download this, even if only to stare on the eyecandy. RATING:9
