Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Online

If you’re lucky, your JJ2 folder will have a level named “falkenrace.j2l” inside – it’s one of those old Jazz 2 City levels that made it into TSF. There were a couple other levels from the same author – nothing very remarkable by today’s standards, but in 2003 they gave me the impression of a place that’s simultaneously technical but also oddly whimsical.

Falkenstein is also a small town in Austria that I drove through several times in the early 2010’s. Is this where I first got the idea to make something similar? Probably not, as I had different things on my mind at the time. But for some reason, I felt compelled to create something that would harken back to those weird 2000 vibes even slightly.

Fast forward to 2024 where I made an attempt at an April Fools level that quickly got out of hand.

Virtually untested but I heard it was quite popular in Anniversary Bash 26. Have fun!

(Changes since bash version: improved ammo distribution, fixed respawn time bugs, fixed chromakey tilebugs, misc eyecandy improvements, added frogs, potions, butterflies.)
