Many people do not know, how to create non-standard multiplayer games. So I thought I'd post this.

For those who don't know:
By default, you can only create Battle, CTF or Treasure games using the Jazz Jack Rabbit 2 v1.23 \ 1.24 software.

To be able to create Race or even Cooperative games, follow these instructions:

WAY #1 (EASIER, LISTS THE CORRECT GAME TYPE IN LIST SERVERS)
(Thanks to Nimrod for bringing up the link to the new version of JazzForce)

1. Go to downloads section of this website and download JazzForce 1.1
2. Install it.
3. Go to installation folder (that's where you installed Jazz Force, usually C:\Program Files\JazzForce 1.1), then go to subfolder called PROBLEMS
4. Take all the files in that folder, move them to the JazzForce installation folder.
5. Go here and download JazzForce 1.1c Patch
6. Open the archive. Unpack its contents right into Jazz Force installation folder, OVERWRITING the JazzForce.exe file.
7. Load it. It will ask you to provide the paths...
8. In the paths you should put your path to Jazz 2 and \ or Jazz 2 TSF files. That is usually Jazz2.exe. For whichever game you don't have, just live the field blank.
9. Click ACCEPT, then follow the wizard.
10. When you are done, your games will be listed in list servers as follows:
- Race: "Race"
- Cooperative: "Co-Op"
- All the others - as it would be listed if started via standard methods.

• When you join or host, you have to make sure that the TSF checkbox is checked if that is a TSF level, or that it is NOT checked if it is 1.23 level.
• Players can just join your host as usual.
• In order to work Coop properly, you should grab yourself a copy of "Project Controller 4." It is available in the DOWNLOADS section of J2O
• In coop, do not destroy bosses completely, or everyone will get a black screen.
• If you or any of your players have trouble with connection, refer to this thread: LINK and to this post: LINK

ALTERNATIVE WAY #2 (LITTLE HARDER, SOMETIMES DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY, LISTED IN LIST SERVERS AS THE TYPE OF GAME YOU HAVE ORIGINALLY STARTED THRU JJ2 - e.g. if you start a battle, then change it to COOP, it will still be listed as battle )

Note: You should use this solution only if you have problems with the first one. I, personally, didn't have any problems.
1. Go to downloads section of this website and download Project Controller 4 (PC4)
2. Start a multiplayer game over the internet via JJ22.
3. Run PC4
4. Click DETECT ALL
5. In the GAME TYPE select type you want.
6. In the NEXT LEVEL box, choose the level you wanna load.
7. Click SAVE ALL
8. Click CONTROL -> SKIP LEVEL
9. There you go! People can join u as usual.

• MAKE SURE that the name of the server contains name of the desired game type, because if you choose, let's say, BATTLE, it will say BATTLE in list servers even after you switch the game type using PC4
• In coop, do not destroy bosses completely, or everyone will get a black screen.
• If you or any of your players have trouble with connection, refer to this thread: LINK and to this post: LINK

Alternatively one could use a tool that supports the other kind of games out of the box.

Well, maybe. I did not try. But, IMHO, this tool is the best one. By design and by stability and by options.
BTW Do you got any idea, why aren't those games listed in list servers?

Alternatively, you could use Project Controller and not worry about giving your IP to people because Jazz Force doesn't support the idea of list servers.

Hey, I didn't think of that one! Thanks. The top post updated.

BTW, when you use Jazz Force, it says "Your server has been listed in list servers".
So, I thought, it was supposed to list the game.
But it doesn't.
Any idea why not or why does it say it does if it does not?

As far as I know, it does list the game. Are you two sure you've got the latest version? (I have 1.1b)

Actually, I had v.1.1 instead of 1.1b... and it did not work for me. But, not I have downloaded a new version, and it works! It lists coop as Co-Op and race as Race. Cool!

Nah, I don't think so. What does run dialog have to do with this? Re-read the topic, plz.

Of course. For example:

C:\Games\Jazz2\Jazz2.exe -server -coop -easy colon1.j2l

That won't put it on the list servers, though.

Hey, not everybody knows that jazz2 has command line parameters.
Can you give me a link to documentation about this?

I don't know of any way to connect to the list servers using command lines. Ask Alberto or Nimrod or someone, though I can't promise a positive answer.

You have to send certain data packets to the listserver. It's not very easy there is an article on J2O which explains it though.

Well, I don't have that sort of power, and besides, all that's really needed is a launcher program or PC4. Even XJJ2 could do this.

No it doesn't make him a half admin. It makes him an admin of J2O but not an admin of JCF.

J2O and JCF are the same website, J2O is the base part, JCF is the forum.

As administration goes, J2O and JCF are seperate entities with different admins. Some are admins both places, while others aren't. J2O has newer admins than JCF does for the most part. Although the JCF is technically a part of J2O, as administration goes (including warnings, etc.) they are considered mutually exclusive.

J2O is not built for discussion so much as resources. By your logic, though slightly exaggerated, Epic Games and Walmart are the same thing because one of them provides services the other does not. Besides, J2O hosts quite a number of sites which are by no means J2O.
