Help with pallettes

When I try to make a tileset pallette, PSP6 likes to be an old poop and I can't figure out how to tell it to make the first line of pallette colors any old color that I don't use. That's why nobody likes my tilesets. The palletes are messed up. If you saw the original version of my Emeraldus, you'd surely give it a 6 or 7, because the colors are nice. But I have to mess around with the pallette so much to get it so the first line of colors aren't used, my tilesets just look awful.

So, uh... help.

I just got Palette Suite II by Disguise's recommendation. It works really well (see my forum http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showt...029#post160029 ).

You know, I used to have palette problems with PSP back before palette suite was made. If you're crazy enough not to get palette suite, here's how I used to do it:

1) Draw everything in 24-bit in psp8
2) Convert the image to 160 colours
3) Grab a pen and LOTS of paper, maybe another pen incase the one's ink runs out (hey, it happened to me before).
4)Go to image --> Edit Palette, select the palette colours one by one and start writing down the hexidecimal code (e.g. #5700CB) of all the colours on the piece of paper.
5) Load the normal Jazz2 palette into a seperate image (same size as your tileset), edit it and start putting in all the colours you wrote down on the piece of paper earlier.
6) Copy and paste your tileset into this new image, and after 3587563876 hours you have it all ready!

Yes I used to do this, which is exacctly why I praise palette suite every day of m life and have a shrine dedicated to toxic bunny in my bedroom

EDIT: Please dont do what I just wrote down, that's just to show what suffering you could go through if you dont have palsuite to edit palettes, GO GET IT!

Wisety. So stupid. Before palette suite, you should've taken the 160 color palette and copied and pasted the values from a JASC .PAL file into the proper place in a pal file with the sprite colors.. it'd take a minute to count exactly where to write over the values, but that's less than 3587563876 hours. (And it takes no effort if you had a program with line numbers ;p).

Still Palsuite is SUPERAWESOME. And back in the day ToxicBunny would add features on request quite often. I particularly love the functions I asked him to add.. Count unique colors and find matches, or whatever they're called.. (It's been a while ;p)

Hey, I'll still add features on demand. But be prepared to wait until after my exams. I'll be working on a new version in a month or so.
