Block certain filenames?
Is there a utility or something that I can set to automaticly delete certain file names like "spyware.exe" or whatnot, I am having problems with spy ware and have done like 10 scans and stuff and got that homepage problem.
A utility program like this would really help I think... if there isn't such tihng, how hard would it be to program something like this? |

Spybot Search & Destroy can clean out programs that take over your browser most of the time. Make sure you update it.

My school blocks certain filenames (such as filenames ending in .exe) on our home directories, so it can definitely be done. I don't know how they do it though.

Are you experiencing drive-by downloads? If so, then I would recommend you raise your internet Explorer security level.

Then again, if you're really badly hit then something will have probably buried itself in the LSP stack. The recommended treatment for that usually involves a dose of fdisk, and a Win98 install CD. Immediately install a firewall to prevent any relapses. Treat the patient carefully over the next 48 hours, applying the various patches as needed to ensure a full recovery and future immunity. Keep under close observation for the following week, especially when trying anything new. Ensure you are up to date with all vaccinations (antivirus) and injections of patches. -- Dr. Thomas ![]() |
