Terminal velocity?
Does anyone know what the terminal velocity of Jazz (and Spaz and Lori) is? I've tried 60 speed suckertubes, 127 speed belts and acc belts, 127 speed wind (I couldn't use -61 or -128 because I'm lazy and didn't want to start my lvl from right to left
![]() ![]() Does anyone know what the terminal velocity of the playable rabbits in JJ2 are? (I assume they're the same for Jazz, Spaz and Lori). You can reach pretty fast speeds with -61 speed suckertubes but I think you can reach even faster speeds using belt left/right (max speeds: -128/127), wind right/left (max speeds: -128/127) and acc belt/right (max speeds: -128/127). What if you used poles, springs, hurt events (they bounce you off), TNTs, RFs, belts and wind together? And what about the ammo you shoot? Do they have terminal velocities as well? If they did, it would be cool to see you outstrip your RF missiles. ![]() EDIT: Post semi-messed up by Frank. ;P Last edited by White Rabbit; May 4, 2005 at 01:26 PM. |

Never tried that out. Interesting.

Ok, I've done some more testing. You CAN outrun ALL of your ammo at that speed. Some pretty weird stuff can happen, especially in single player.
![]() ![]() At slower speeds, the explosion will travel quite slowly and you can actually see it moving away. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of differences acc. belt and normal belt have. EDIT: This sort of effect doesn't work for toasters, peppersprays or electroblasters. I think. |

That TNT thing is extremely useful.
You could make a puzzle where you first have to find TNT, then figure out where to lay it down so it travels to a trigger crate. Too bad that I'm not into using JCS any more, otherwise this would've been a great puzzle. ![]()

Actually, the problem is...it doesn't work in singleplayer mode. Singleplayer mode puts most, if not all, events into a sort of "restart" mode whenever you go more than 20 tiles away from that event. If a turtle stands on brick A at the beginning of the lvl, it will move to brick B when you go near it. If you go far away from it, however, the turtle is re-set by JJ2 and starts off from brick A again. The only way the TNT puzzle thing can work is if the TNT and the wind event are less than 20 tiles away. If it's further than 20 tiles away, the TNT will still exist, but stay un-exploded for all etenity until you get close enough to it.
I'm making a race lvl using the super-speed tracks...I tried to clock myself and, if I do it correctly, I can travel 250 tiles in a little over 1 second. ![]() ![]() EDIT: Found out that wind right -128 with belt accR -128 works as good as wind left -128 with belt accL -128. That's the fastest speed I could attain. |

Well, it'd still be a cool puzzle for a cooperative level.

In a level I made once I did something with suckertubes that shot me all the way to the top of the level from the bottom, even through solid tiles. I never was able to duplicate it in a different level though.

You just reminded me that in my lvl, you can pass through warps. Your'e going too fast for the warp to "pick you up". Also, Link, I tried putting solid tiles into my lvl....AND IT WORKS!!!!! You're travelling so darn fast that you can pass through anything!
![]() EDIT: Yep, you can pass through anything. Baddies, pick-ups, power-ups, giant boulders...not even your bullets can hit them. ![]() ![]() EDIT 2: At my speed, you can pass through a maximum of 4 completely solid tiles. The bullet explosions will also pass through 4 tiles (it explodes behind a tile when fired in front of it). |

Isn't there a way to trigger sucker tubes with a special parameter? If so this could be pretty useful.

You can't even enter suckertubes by going through them at suckertube speed 60. ;P I think the number means tiles per second. So basically, I was going 256 tiles per second in my lvl.

I did it... I think that it's faster than a warp, because a warp takes time to, well, warp you, and make the weird sound.

I have a level, or maybe two, that actually RELY on going at speeds that shoot you through solid tiles.
Also, I think warping is faster if you are warped far enough.

No, not really...there IS a maximum lvl size for JCS, and even at maximum size, that super-speed suckertube trick is way faster... there's no waiting time, you see (no warping and unwarping and no animations).
|

But my idea is theoretical anyway

I think you can even go faster than the maximum sucker tube speeds.
You can alter the JCS.ini file to give more trigger or warp ID's etc. so, you cloud also alter the maximum speed of a sucker tube. If it is possible, you can make jazz move with light speed! ![]()

Erm...
Erm... I'm going to have to check on that but my guess is that you can either not edit it, or edit it the way you described it, or edit it and then have JJ2 crash on you. I can't find 'suckertube' in my JCS.ini ![]() ![]() |
