JJ2WC III: What mode?
Fellow Jazzers,
As you might have noticed, the recently announced Clan Cup Tournament signups have failed because of too few clans signed up for this tourney. Still, there's enough players to make a decent team tournament. As the opinions vary about which form this team tournament should get, I decided to bring up a poll with four possible options: Only a CTF Cup, only a TeamBattle Cup, both a CTF and Teambattle Cup, or nothing. This team cup will start with teams consisting out of 3 players. Every player is allowed to form it's own teams. Well, what do you guys think? |

Long live doing something else for a change.

You again do not need training just for playing tb, especially if you did ctf before.
![]() Jj2 is fun anyway

hmm I don't know in which I will participate, TB will prolly win(last time i checked anyway). 2 tournaments would pwn, but it's kinda hard on chip to run 2 tourneys imo... so despite preffering ctf I'm basicly gonna put aside my own wishes as people such as chip are doing so much, and all the rest of us do, is whine.
I dont care which option wins, I know I'll only play in 1 tourney, as I lack time for two. But to all those who would only play in one tourney, sure its ur right to say not to one mode or the other, but maybe for the sake of fun play the one that wins(should only 1 win, instead of having 2 tourneys). Cuz we will miss every team that doesnt play. And should for example CC's nr1 team not do that good on TB, no one will say or think u guys suck or anything(not to even mention that i've seen u play TB and you guys don't suck, same goes for rep's ctf skills...)

My math may be a bit rusty, but if memory serves well, I do believe that "3" does not equal "more than 3". I think the idea here is that for a lack of active clans, you can sign up teams of three players, regardless of the clan they're in, in order to have enough teams for a remotely serious tournament. Even though it might be a good idea to allow each team to sign up a spare 4th player if one of their squad can't make it, this would make the 4th player in question unavailable for any other teams that are trying to form (at least, that's what would be most logical, it would be rather silly if a player could hop from team to team throughout the entire tournament), which kind of kills the idea of having enough teams for a decent competition.

Ya but every 1v1 tourney up till now also failed, elimination sort that is, but we've proven that wrong. I say teams of 3, no reserves, so there is enough teams, and let the teams decide on the time they will play like during the 1v1. Sure it will be hard, and it will take time and it will take more time than it should, and chippie will have to make round longer or god knows what.... but on the end at least 60-70 percent of the teams will have played all of their matches, whilst the rest will be won by forfeits. Thats as good as it can get.

I think 4 players is enough
![]() A tournament which takes 23 months because every team has 3 players - annoying, big chance of faillure. A tournament which takes 1/2 months because every team has 4 players - less annoying, more teams can play at the same time, less chance of faillure. |

A tournament doesn't have to take 23 months with 3-player teams, if players just show up. Else, we'll just do forfeit wins.
As the poll is still pretty much undecided, I decided to end the votings Monday the 9th at 8PM GMT, then the option with most votes will be chosen. About 3/4 player tournaments, I think I'll make it that teams _may_ have a selection of 3 or 4 players, but if they wish to play with three players, they better be ready at the match time. 4 players would be handier since in that way there's always a substitute ready. |

i suppose 4 players wouldnt kill any1, there might be quite a few teams less though, but at least a higher percentage of matches would be played IMO, which is the whole point. But I do think, that should there not be enough teams (again), the 4th players should be "forced" into making some more teams, hopefully measures like that won't have to be taken.
gah what am I going on about, there's surely gonna be enough teams for at least one tournament, hopefully for both, since the desired number is what, 8 i believe?

I wonder how smart it is to let this poll decide what tournaments take place though... Not all jj2ers go here very often that could perhaps want to play in the tournament.
Edit: To clarify what I mean... Let people start signing teams up instead, and launch the tournament if you find there is enogh teams ![]() Last edited by Grytolle; Jan 7, 2006 at 08:04 AM. |
