The people who intensly love Domination.
I love this gametype. It is my passion. I make domination maps even without a domination gametype. Everyone who loves domination join this thread. I really want it in JDC and hopefully have a gametype in JJ2+

You mean Domination as the game type in UT99? I used to love that.

Double Domination in UT2k3/4 wasn't much worse, too.

Domination would make an awesome JJ2 gametype.

Double domination sucked. You could easily tell by the negligible number of DDOM servers hosted.

According to the rules of UT99:
There are three or four bases in a level (depending on size). Those bases are neutral by default. When a player touches the base, it turns their colour. As long as the base is under your control, you gain a point per second. Whoever reaches the target point goal first, wins. |

Onslaught was a fun game type to play. The problem was that most servers were crowded with crappy maps and n00bs that didn't have the faintest idea on how to play it. That in turn decreased its score. There were some rare servers where you could actually enjoy it (namely Titan Internet).

Despite me only having played it once in an online-game I barely remember, I think it would fit perfectly in JDC events. Furthermore, <3 Dom <3 <3. But erm, I wonder why this doesn't feel like we're ganging up on someone... ;o

What would the dom pionts look like? maybe start as a purple/green gem and change to red/blue when captured? Or would it be marked as an area(by area id) and you would have to label the dom points in map?

Basically it could be like KotH (King of the Hill) with multiple hills where only one player can be in control of a hill at a time. I'm not sure if this should be played as a team game or free for all. The hills can be chosen by populating the area with some special unused events. The first player to enter the area gains control of the hill.

That picture Cooba posted is exactly like it should be. UT style fo'real.

You deserve a hi5. (I think cooba does too). Problem is, we need sprites for a yellow gem D:. Or a super blue/green gem (I think I stole these exact words from a certain someone). Hmm... I wonder, even though I doubt its possible, how awesome would it be if you could just shoot the gem and it turns your colour... Although I'd probably want the game to last longer than a 100 points. ;o ;D

Domination did work well in UT, played Onslaught more actively though. And that pic asks for some programming work.

If the 'shoot the gems to take control over the zone' -idea will be realised, then this might become the best non CTF gametype.
I'm most certainly in support of this. |
Aug 18, 2008, 05:25 AM | |
I think that even if the zones will have to be map-indicated, this idea will skyrocket as soon as it's realised.

Replace this with Treasure Hunt (renamed) for an even better improvement.
