Don't get hyped. Most likely it's either Fortnite, new UT (the one that's completely free) or general UE4 improvements. I mean, Arjan is a pretty badass programmer.

Of course if it would be JJ-related I'd be more than happy, but I don't expect or even hope (hop? [rabbit face emoji here because JCF hates emojis and replaced it with question mark blocks]) for it to not set up myself for disappointment.

I mean it's like a perfect collision of stars, can it really all be just a coincidence? Everything's happening so fast.

I'd treat it as such until we have details what that secret project is. If it's JJ, great. I'd more than happy. It probably wouldn't work on my craptop because it'd be most likely powered by UE4, even if it'd be 2d, but I'd be happy nevertheless. If not, I'm not letting myself get excited over this so I won't be disappointed if it's not JJ-related.

For now better treat it as case of "LawBreakers didn't work out as planned, so Arjan returned to previous company where he knew he'd have guarantee of employment." Because, frankly, LB didn't work out despite being a fun game. If they'd stick to the original plan of making it F2P, then maybe it would be good. And frankly I think they should've make LB a F2P title. Overwatch was a thing when LB was still in development, I mean. And F2P games don't have to be predatory, just look at Path of Exile or Warframe.

2D games are possible. Someone tried to remake JJ2 in UE4 as purely 2D game. I don't have a link now, but it's somewhere on the JCF (it's abandoned though, I think).

Also I'd have nothing against JJ3D with Sonic Utopia-styled gameplay (obviously with gun).

But again, I don't think it's new JJ, would be happy if it was, but I don't want to be disappointed if it isn't. For now I think it's just a case of "my new game is failing, our company's funds are near 0, but my old buddy is a CEO of a company I've worked at 20 years ago, so he will give me a job with job security attached."

Don't get hyped because you will be disappointed when it turns out it's not JJ3. I prefer to expect nothing and get very happy when it turns it is JJ3. But most likely it isn't.

Also, it wouldn't be a true JJ without Bleszinski at the helm, so...

Hey, one can only hope. An "exciting project" could mean anything, really. Let's not jump to conclusions and let time pass by.

There's no need for theorists. I mean it must be obvious by now. 1. Epic receives a lot of UE4 projects from the fans. Like literally hundreds. What if some of these are jump'n'run platformers? What if one of these got their attention and making them into thinking "Hmm, this is actually quite a good one! It might come as a quite good new JJ game! Only if we can get some talented programmer to lead this project.". So they might have contacted Arjan. 2. But before his decision was made, they also have contacted GOG and JJ2+ team to release the JJ2. Everything turned out smoothly, so they have released it. It may be to satisfy the fans, to "test the waters" or to get people talk about Jazz again. The response was good enough, because... 3. Arjan joined Epic! Couldn't it be more obvious than this? The guy involved in creation of JJ1 and 2, a very good and talented programmer, just happens to join Epic after the GOG release. He would be the ideal lead programmer of a JJ dedicated team. Coincidence? I think not. 4. What's more needed? A talented artist. Unfortunately, Noogie's twitter profile don't indicate anything happening, like he doesn't care anymore. But. He also has just finished his latest game. He now just needs to publish it. What if, after that, also joins Epic? Just like Arjan! Will there be any doubt yet?

Well Dean Dodrill made his second indie game it's kind of like parody of Metal Gear Solid.If Dean Dodrill and Alexander Brandon won't back to Epic Games at least Robert Allen as sound composer and Nick Stadler as artist if they will return to Epic Games maybe we will see his 3d modelling skills on GDC 3D animations at this time because usually in 90's he was making pixelart sprites and animations for jazz jackrabbit. Nowadays thanks to some video games journalists Nickadoo could be more recognizable.
Btw what Andrew Sega as co-music composer doing now? I mean does he still composing music for video games?He was composing music with Alexander Brandon for unfinished alpha demo of Jazz Jackrabbit 3.

Jazz is some kind of parody of other games and movies, so if they decide to do a new game, it has to be it again.
For example: Jazz and Eve married, they have a girl (obviously) who disappeared one day (obviously). The aged Jazz and Spaz go to shoot Devon out of his shell and ruin his lab. Devon and Jazz start to yelling at each other, but it comes out that Devon absolutely doesn't know anything about the disappearance. Devon has a son (a clone actually) who has an idea where should the girl be. So Devon's son and Jazz go for the rescue.

The game should has clichés and easter eggs as many as it's tasty. For example when it comes out that the kid is a clone he just plays with a voice modulator and he says on a high pitched voice: "I am different" and so on.

Devon's son is a geek and always playing with his phone. On a part of the game there is a scene where David (a name for example) found something. He shows the phone to Jazz.
On the app – called Tender – is a girl.
David: "Is she her?"
Jazz: "YES! Where is she?!"
David: "Let's try it..."
On the phone there is two options: Nah and Date. Jazz is too quick to judge and when David tries to click on Date (slow as a turtle), Jazz shouts "Don't even dream!" and click on Nah.
David without any emotion turns to Jazz and says: "Sir, you just fucked up."

In other news, about 2 days ago Epic announced the closure of their MOBA/Shooter Paragon. Apparently they had problems balancing it and building a sustainable player base. Now more employees should be able to work on ... together with Arjan.

What if they're working on a new Unreal game rather than a new Jazz game? There's some buzz about reviving Unreal lately too...

I noticed that most of skins can't be unlocked in unreal Tournament 4(it's unfinished like original Jazz Jackrabbit 3 demo) so it seems they preferred to be focused on different game projects Paragon,Fortnite...etc.It seems Epic Games is busy with cloudgine technology for Fortnite.So they don't have plans for new Jazz Jackrabbit game.

That’s the sad truth. Nothing against Fortnite and I’ll try the tablet version, although I do prefer the regular co-op Fortnite game anyday.
