It's incredible to see how the time passes so fast.. minutes ago I was reading all the letters I got from Jazz2 people.
Thank to you all who wrote me a letter.

What I mean with this post is just to share your good and bad moments in Jazz2, or outside of it, but during the time you were on Jazz2.

Maybe this post is stupid, but it would be nice to tell all the stories that happened in this time for all of us.

Good moments.
It was so fun to be in Jazz2 during 1999 and 2000, it seemed like magic and met wonderful people.
Been out with 2 great net girls, you know the second one, but not the first one hehe.
Had great games, battles.. etc in Jazz2.

Bad moments:
Loneliness when I lost those 2 girls.

I know the first one too, bwuhaha! >=)

JJ2 changed my life. From a offline gamer to a online gamer, it made me less bored, and meet great people (like you, Alberto).

Even though some times were rough, I wouldn't want to have missed this game.

Where do I even begin?! Bah.

It was best when I didn't try to do anything for the community. When I just sat back, some people asked me to help with levels, and I was even a co-leader of a clan, as well as a moderator of JMMB, website person for J2C and J2S.. ok, you get it. It taught me a bit more about responsibilty, which was definitely not something I expected a game to do.

Likewise, it was worse when I tried. People said they didn't like my levels (for which I don't blame them), that I shouldn't be a moderator.. all kinds of stuff. I've had my enemies here, and I learned how to deal with them, which might be counted as a plus.

Few of you know this, though you might have guessed. I name no names, but the only girlfriend I've ever had I found through Jazz also, though I did so after I had left.

It's definitely affected my family, as many of you know. My sister and an artist who helped make Jazz Jackrabbit got married eventually, and they still live happily. My cousin, Wakeman, I'm sure has been affected by it, having been around since the days of Jazz 1.

So, I've been affected, and infected.

Well, I've met the majority of my good online friends through Jazz. Even got to meet one, and we still keep in touch. I know I'm still going to be talking and chatting with them in a few years time, which is good to think about.

Affected... affected... more like rebuilt.

Before I got JJ2: I loved being outside, I also liked JJ1 a bit.

After: I became a person who would rather spend all his time on the computer than pretty much anything else.

Well, that pretty much sums it up. But I'll go into details.

Before I became very active in the community, talking about JJ2 on the JMMB was fine. Now, however, I'm not supposed to, because I don't only talk about JJ2.

I've actually... learned english off Jj2. Heh.. as pathetic as it sounds... but yet it's all b'hind-- and I feel like it shouldn't come back. Otherwise it'd pass again, and we'd simply want it to come back. Everyone quite changed from ..back then. But it's still lovely to have them around... and I'd actually feel strange to leave it all. Must add... I'm currently fighting my (pancreas) off with my parents because they want to cancel my internet account. How funny does it sound. They think I'm some intoxicated freak that constantly smells like weed and they got me down to come back home at 10:30-- the time when interesting stuff usually happen. So I don't quite go out anymore these days. And they come to me wondering why I don't go and 'play' outside. I'm like.. yeah. busted. Heh. I love you all.

I'd say I learned a lot about people maintence and responsibility too FoD. In fact, I've learned more things due to this community than I ever expected to do when I just happened to find this game demo around and spent hours trying to get it on my old 14.4 modem.

Through the people in the community, I decided to start programming stuff and to even learned a whole lot about general maintenance of websites and building of websites. None of which though, I could have done without the countless hours of help I recieved from various kind people helping me along the way.

Starting out I joined the community in early 2000 and I never expected to be responsible for parts of it, including the bills. Out of everything though, I consider JDC to be most valuable in what I've learned and done in the community. Through JDC I had a real project I wanted to help with and do. JDC was the way I learned about programming and a lot more about leading. In the more recent times, I've explored statistical systems and really found that I love statistics. I would have a hard time going through my day if I was not here, I devote more time than I would like to admit here.

I've met countless people and learned countless things and I thank all of you who have shared the experience.

It's been fun all right. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was my introduction to online gaming. After i finished single player, i opened multiplayer, and wondered "hmm, what does that 'internet play' thing do". Before i knew it, i was in a server with other players. I learnt most things about using the internet (which was quite new to me back in 1998) by playing Jazz2 and looking for sites about it. Rather surprisingly for a pc game, i'd say it made me a bit more social too. When i was 11-12 years old, i was a very shy and withdrawn kid. I'm still not very talkative today, but at least i'm not so afraid of people anymore. I think i can say that change happened because i could talk to people (that would be you guys) who don't judge you by... your looks, habits and stuff... So yes, i'd say jj2, but especially this great community around it, has affected my life in a very positive way.

I LOVE YOU ALL!!

Thats almost the same story as mine, Enigma. If I they didnt make the game JJ2 or I never knew about it, I never would get so addicted to JJ2 & Computer as like Im now. The Community around JJ2 and all my friends helped me, from the highest technical support 'till the littlest crap. And you know what, if I didnt join this community, I could never talk correct English. Jazz changed my whole life. Jazz2 has just the bestest Community, and Im proud that im a member of it Jazz 4-ever!

I've played this game for over 4 years, to say that it hasnt changed my life would be a lie. First online game (14.4k net cant support many games), first levels, first tilesets, uhhhh, first everything, go Jazz or something. 14 - 18 years old is a big change too, and Jazz was a part of it. Hmmm, what else? Oh yeah, I even moved to england from south africa while playing Jazz, another big thing. That's about all I can think of right now, unless I go all ooshie wooshie cuddly wuddly on you guys

Yeah, I guess JJ2 changed my life too. Before I played JJ2 I wasn't really considered..lets say-cool, but I picked up a thing or two and im cool . This particular game made me get addicted to games on the computer. But i was already a computer genius when i first went on the computer.

I have bad times too. Many people insult me, and make fun of me, and call me newbie, when ofcource ive been playing for about 3 years now (wow, time does go fast!) many people still bug me, occasionally it gets on my nerves..but usually i ignore them.

After this stuff, JJ2 did change my life. I have met many people. I never dreamed so many people would (at the time)would be on a unpopular/unknown game. If you stood infront of your class and say, "Who's heard of JJ2?" probably they'd look at you as if you were crazy and say, 'no'. So JJ2 is still really unknown, but it's suprising how many people know about it and aren't in your classes at school.

Good times for me:
The rise of CC in 1999, the forming of CTU in 2000, around the creation of my first levels, gamemodes and tilesets, when CC started playing CTF and first official clanwars in very late 2001, and the times when I got my real life friends to play JJ2 online with me (2001 and 2002).

Bad times for me:
The war with RG, the first war with GpW, the times when there were rumors being spread out about the evilness of CC and TEC (which caused me the bad reputation I had for a long time), the BOMB-wars, the dissolve-CTU war (with GoC) and the death of the majority of the CTU clans and when a lot of my JJ2 friends left, the almost-dead situation of CC (when most of our members were inactive, luckily it's different now and better than ever), the second war with GpW and some other minor problems.

Fortunately, the good times lasted longer than the bad times. I can say that it's a good time for me now on JJ2.

Oh yes, this game has definitely changed my life. Ever since I discovered this beautiful creation, I've been obsessed... Maybe even addicted ever since. My addiction to this game has lead me to spend a lot more time on the computer, it has even given me a more positive attitude toward things. It's given me a new hobby, making levels. But most of all, I'd say it's given me good times with online friends that I can talk to, trust and share pretty much anything I want with.

I originally fell in love with this game back about four years ago. I was looking to find an online game that I'd enjoy, when I stumbled upon the shareware version of Jazz2. I played it for a few days, and then I automaticly become addicted. I would play for hours on end. Finally, on December 25th 1998, for the first time I held the full version in my hand. It was like eating a big juicy piece of pie. After that, my addiction had expanded to new heights. I started exploring the pleasure of making new levels, talking to even more people that I had never known of before, playing new game-types and overall, having a lot more fun.

To this day, I have never gotten sick of Jazz Jackrabbit. I still daily play the game, visit J2O, JDC and so on. I have new friends, that I play with online or talk to on ICQ. I try not to get too "close" to my online friends, but I'd like to mention an example of one person that I learned a lot from over these years. Shorty [GpW] (formally in LJ) has been a big inspiration for me, and our online friendship from the first day we met in some server, has expanded ever so much. I can't even imagine how I would have turned out if I never discovered this game, so I voted 'yes.' I think Jazz Jackrabbit has changed my life for the better. In my heart, I'll never leave the community. Friends forever, and forever friends.

I made one of my best friends due to Jazz 2. Many of you may know AtomicFeline. I met him in real life (Our fathers work together, and we went to his house.) We got to talking, and before long discovered that we already knew each other from JJ2. Since then we've been great friends, but if it weren't for JJ2 we would never have become friends. That is one of the cooler things that have happened to me.

Jazz 2 is a great game. What I like especially is the freedom you have to create levels and tilesets. I always liked games with level editors, but before JJ2 they were rare and the level editors weren't very good (like in Skunny). I had played Jazz1 (which I had heard about from my best friend, who is still my best friend). I used to rarely go on the internet (once every several months). Whenever I did, I liked to check Epic's website. When Jazz 2 was announced, I was very excited. But the release date came and went several times. I knew that there was a message board, but didn't join until much later, when I started frequently going online. I thought "why not?". Before then I had only been in the Redwall community (I am not anymore). And so, I joined the Epic Mega Message Board a few months before the release of the shareware. Back then the board was frequented by the creators of Jazz 1 (like Jeh), and there were great people like Onag, Dethman, Wakeman, ZZTPyro (now Buster), Gizmo, Captain Spam, Bluez, and many many more, a few who are still here. I am still here now, and more active than ever before (there were times when I didn't post very much). This game is great, the community is even greater, I hope it lives forever. It certainly is a defining part of my life.

Let us also take a moment to be thankful for what we have. We are very fortunate to have a great site, like J2O, and this wonderful message board. Thanks to all those who made this community possible, and everyone else who keeps it alive. While we may never see another Jazz game or patch, I feel that this community will last. It is because it is a small one, unlike popular game communities like Epic's other game (not the I have anything against Unreal, although it is the reason we were abandoned). We are much closer than many other communities. To Jazz 2! *raises a carrot beer*

Something similiar like that happened to me too. Q has been at my school 2 years ago, and I knew him, but we didn't talk with eachother or anything. I met him on Q and discovered that I actually knew him in real life and now he's a good OL friend and CC member.

There was one bad thing what happend through in my jj2 history. When I joined for the first time a TSF server, there were all bunch of ppl. They wasnts rook or noob, they were just the normal people who actually play 1.23 now. So, I played TSF alot. But slowly it looked like everyone disapeared. I wondered why (They started playing 1.23), and so slowly I lost my interest. But Luckely and very luckely someone, dont remember his name teached me having Colours in your name, seesh I was happy. After that I teached also JCS, I was even more happy. But still everyone left TSF and there were only white names around. And so, I really dont know how, I discovered this site... and so slowly also the 1.23 servers, man I was happy seeying al those ppl around 1.23. Too bad people overthere annoyed me and didnt had much interest in being friends, maybe because I was a bit n00b and also was quite young. I really lost my Interest again. But then luckely I saw a guy on TSF, Elrick. He was searching members for his clan BOD. I joined. I really didnt had any ideas about clans, I just joined every clan which said: 'Hey wanna join?'. After a while I also joined DBZ and luckely I did. Piccolo teached me alot of the Internet, like MSN. Because of MSN I got alot of friends around jj2. Slowly DBZ died, but I still was in BOD and through months I leaved the other stupid clans and actually understand a good community. After that, I begged Elrick to get MSN. And so the BOD clan became bigger and with much contact. After a while when BOD came alot better we also played Clanwars, they were fun. Especially we won almost every clanwar. And so slowly I became, lets say 'GOOD'. So I addicted to the community and played alot of 1.23. Nowadays I even play CTF, which I even hated before. Anyway I just want to say because of jj2 I just got alot friends. I really want to thank Piccolo aka Soulfire and Elrick for all the good things.

And guess what, BOD has the current members:

Serious, it did. It is still the only game I play frequently, and I waste almost all my time on the PC with browsing J2O/JCF, playing JJ2, chattign with JJ2 ppl, and stuff. I think I can call some ppl I met on JJ2 real friends and I think alot about JJ2.

Actually, many of the people I speak to online most are friends I've made through JJ2. Alot of my older friends I've made are all busy and grown up now so I don't talk to them alot, but I still get to talk to some of my older known friends and alot of more recent ones too.

AJ2F - Does Atomic Feline still use ICQ? I haven't spoken to him in AGES. So long he probably doesn't know who I am anymore, actually.

I guess it changed my life too.. I also learned English on JJ2, which is a big part of my life now. I could hardly make a sentence when I first entered the community. Like Tyf said, things have changed from back then, but it'd be strange to leave it all, so I'm trying to be around as much as I can. :)

Ooh, I remember that Tubelectric remix, Beto.. I had to listen to the original soundtrack a dozen times to understand the way it said "are you ready?". ;P It was a fun experience for me too, though.

It's not really the game that changed my life because I can safely say I did absolutly nothing for the community, more like the people. It's hard to imagine what life would be like if I didn't meet those few close ones, who were always willing to give support and advice through the hard times.

The only bad times I can think of is when you just become distant from old, close friends and never end up talking to them again. I'm sure this has happened to most of us.

As for leaving...I would have no problem leaving the game. Leaving the people, there's something I will try never to do.

(As for Magoo, I can't imagine life without you either and you know I'm always around if ya need me) *awww*

Slim, defalcon: Well, it's not based on the community (though there is a blurb about that somewhere in there); it talks about my struggle to create a working tournament. Learned about leadership, responsibility, organization, etc. This was one of the very rare pieces of writing that I have done where I had too much to write about, and had to cut it from three+ pages to two.

Unfortunately, the only electric copy I had was on my dad's computer, and it got erased a couple months ago (reformatted hd). My dad might have a hard copy lying around, and my university may have it on record. I just tried to call my dad, but he is not home at the moment.

FoD: Yeah, I'm not in the right age group...oh well, that helps show how cool you guys are.

Yes, it did. I have played a significant amount of time on JJ2 and am very dedicated to it. 100% yes.

No, he hasn't used icq for a long time. However, I do have his email, if you are interested...

I joined the Jazz2 community in 1998 around when the demo was released, and I was 11 when I joined...11! Geez, I've spent many years on this game (actually nowadays its more or less just the community). Actually when Jazz 1 came out I was obsessed with it, and then I heard about Jazz2, and suddenly when the thought came to me to see what was up with it, I found the demo was released.

When I joined I was pretty new to the internet, and through it and the help of people I learned a ton about making web pages and made programs, and was inspired for all sorts of things. I've made many many friends in Jazz2...in fact the majority of everyone that I talk to is from this community.

The best times were probably when I first released my old website The Rabbit Hole, and how crappy it was, and then eventually doing one major revamp and having it become much more popular. And also when I released SXR was one of my favorite times. Oh, and playing online for countless hours, and talking in the old Epic MMB. I still remember that, and when it was first thought up to have clans in Jazz2...and the first War Tavern (even though I didn't have any additions for any of it). I've spent countless hours involved with this game. It's influenced my knowledge and inspired me to look into programming and designing sites, and for making graphics, and all sorts of things. Jazz2 has changed my life in many many ways =)

And who can ever forget playing Diamondus Warzone so many times that you can capture the flag and score a point in just a few seconds?

And all of the hype around *it* (I wonder how many people in online play you could ask about *it* and have them not know what it was...) Ohh, and playing against CliffyB online! Crazy fun times =) And that one time when I e-mailed Arjan and he actually answered me, =P

As far as regrets, my only major regret is that I've made many many friends over these years, but I can say that out of who I talk to more often now, only very very few are the same friends that I knew from way back when. A lot of them disappeared into thin air and I have no way of contacting them. Sad.

But anyway, Jazz2 has been good to me, though I don't play it nearly as often as I wish.

There's a 45 minute video of CliffyB showing off the Unreal game, he mentions Jazz a few times and some of the new UnrealEd (level editor) features were inspired by JJ2 - they have a set of pre-fabs that were inspired by pre-made level objects; JJ2's tilesets.
