Jazz2 Episode 2
This must have been noticed by a lot of people before. But I found out only tonight, so I guess a lot of other people haven't noticed it before either.
Anyway, compare these and you'll see what I'm talking about. ![]() ![]() |

I believe that it was intended. There are a lot of parodies of various pop culture icons in Jazz 2, as subliminal as some of them may be.

I bet the third episode pic is also ripped from somewhere.
Defalcon, could you post those pics to compare?

While we are on the subject of those episodes and where they come from take a look at this.
![]() ![]() Oh, by the way, the artist who made this album is Prince or the Artist Formerly Known as Prince which is why Nick used this since the first episode is called Formerly a Prince. Last edited by Bobby aka Dizzy; Nov 16, 2002 at 07:19 PM. |

For those who didn't know almost the entire Jazz Jackrabbit game series is based upon spoofing other well known franchise. Such as games, movies and folklore.
Who didn't notice: - the similarities between Sonic and Jazz Jackrabbit 1 - the similarities between episode graphics and movie posters - the levelnames parodying movienames ...and upcoming the Star Wars parody in JazzGBA? (though they've pushed the parody a bit to far there) Jazz is all about parodies and making fun. That's why I tried keeping that spirit up in the new Hideout. ![]()

LOL! All this time I thought it was so obvious, but it seems not everyone knew about these clear episode parodies
![]() Oh, and while we are at it, did ANYONE notice that the final episode represents Donkey Kong Country, and the demo episode DOOM? ![]() |

I noticed the Back to the future and Doom ones in a few seconds after I first played Jazz2.

Like SFD, I immediately recognized the Back to the Future and Doom parodies. (What's that face in Devan's torso in the demo pic?) That Artist Formerly Known as Prince parody is a new one on me, though.
Frankly, the Episode 4 pic reminds me of Commander Keen 6, when that one-eyed alien was salting Keen's head. Probably not quite the best reference, but a general idea of sorts. But, the O in "Monkey" has the somewhat-trademark star in the middle, as does "Donkey" in "Donkey Kong." What's with Commander Keen and his obsession with being called Commander Keen, instead of Captain Keen (Keen 4)? Last time I checked, Captain was a higher rank than Commander. (That's why, when I mentioned to Firefox that I was going to promote him from Captain to Commander at the end of E:JF, he said that doesn't make sense, considering the preceding fact. Well, actually, he went into some long lecture about the ranks on Star Trek, and how Picard ranks higher than Riker, or whoever, blah, blah, something, something else. I wasn't really listening anyway. [Before anyone asks, I scrapped the idea soon after Firefox told me that. Don't expect anything of that sort at the end of E:JF. <_< {shifty eyes}]) Wouldn't it be better to be thought of as a higher rank than you actually are? ![]() TSF is an illustration by Noogy. 'Nuff said. The good Dodrill thought the three Jackrabbits flying high above on their airboards -- especially Spaz, who doesn't look too confident of his balance... ![]() Now all we need to find out is where the parody came from for the Flashback episode pic, and then our heads will be even more full of useless knowledge than exactly twenty-four days, six hours, and forty-three seconds ago. Yay. ![]() As for Jazz itself being a parody... *cough* Sonic *cough* (Not saying that Sonic is better than Jazz, of course. Jazz beats Sonic on all fronts. After all, I don't see Sonic toting a gun, do you?) DoH is the end boss of Arkanoid ][. Anyone remember that game?

The diamond is there because the original title for TSF was actually The Diamond Files (or was that The Diamond Edition?)

1.point:TST was originally been called"Diamond Edition". Hence the diamond. 2.point:The main goal of JJ2 is eating Devan and getting Eva's diamond back so Devan can't build some weird weapon...(which was later rebuilt and used in CTF it seems... ![]()

... Nevertheless, even IF the thing was in a salvigable shape, Devan couldn't power it without the diamond. His time traveling days are over unless he's able to develope a better power source, and considering the beating he took (Remember, In Jazz 1: You never take on Devan Mono a mono like you do in Jazz 2.), I doubt he thinks all that trouble is worth it.

The bird is known as Hip-Hop. And I believe the face in Devil Devan's torso in the demo pic is Bubba. (It makes sense, considering Bubba is the demo ep boss). And I think the time machine was destroyed. After all, the thing did explode after Devan got shocked.

The flashback episode isn't really a parody. It just has lots of hippie stuff (like the sign that says "Berk or bust!")

Janus, what about Alice in Wonderland?
Don't make me pull up images of the Cheshire cat in JJ2. You know it's there. Not to mention the Mad Hatter and other Alice in Wonderland refrences. Infact, I say that episode is a direct parody of Alice in Wonderland and a few songs by a few 60's artists. Notably whoever wrote White Rabbit. |

Well, I didn't. You proably have found it before me on www.jazzjackrabbit.com, but I found it in the press.zip you could download. Well, I wanted to post it as a reply instead of a hole thread, and this thread did fit. |
