Well, I'm not sure. I tried converting an MP3 to .it using MODplug tracker, but it just turned into static. So, well, don't try that.

It is technically possible to do, but your mp3 would have to be extremely short for it to work with jj2. You can convert your mp3 into a wav file and then put the wav file into any of those file formats. Just remember that the new file you make will be about 3 times as large as the original mp3 and that jj2 can only handle small music files, I don't know an exact limit, but I'd guess you can't have over a minute of music.

If you guys don't mind, if you know of a good program that can do this process. Email me it at: timemaster34@wmconnect.com

Search the archives! No offence but this question has passed up many times over and over and we've answered nearly every time to full satisfaction! What do you people want from me? A MP3/WAV to J2B tutorial? 'Cause I could do it just to prove how "crappy" results can be. :P

I'll put it in normal people language:
There's two kinds of music files. One has short little sounds that are set to play at certain times, like one note on a trumpet. This one note can be modified to be high or low, making the files very small. The other kind of file is just one solid "lump" of sound, making it very large. These are mainly used for voices and sound effects. It is possible to convert a Mp3 or a Wav to a S3m or something, but the entire piece of music is stored as one note on an insturment (a REALLY big note). JJ2 can't run files that big. There are some programs that attemp to break Mp3s and Wavs into seperate insturments for Mid files, but they don't always work (but it's very funny making them translate voice). There may be a way to make JJ2 play Mp3s, some of you programmers may want to look into this. RPGM2k has a mp3 patch that "tricks" it into playing Mp3s. The file is stored as "Filename.link.wav", and contains two lines of code: ..\mp3\Filename.mp3 Loop This (probably won't) be helpful, but it's an interesting concept.

![]() zipped mod files are just as big as j2b files, and zipped j2b files dont get compressed at all (maybe just 1% or somehting like that). So using a mod or j2b won't make any difference in the filesize of your upload, and it'll prevent ppl like me listening to the song outside of JJ2. As far as the converting does, it's impossible, whatever mp3 you convert to mod will be ENORMOUS and with JJ2's memory limitations you'll never be able to play it. I think the max is somehting around 1.5-2mb for a mod and converting would prolly be around 40mb, depends on the length of the song ![]()

How do you add music in JCS? I'm new to the communitiy so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

Asking questions is always good! Look at the top left corner of the JCS window--one of the dropdown menus should be "Tools." From there, select "Level properties." This should open a window, and one of the fields should be named "Music file." Type the filename of whatever music file you want your level to use (it should be in the same folder as Jazz2.exe).
